Actually, I was just reading on SheldonBrown last night about converting bikes to 650B rather than C wheels, but more for the purpose of allowing better clearance for fenders. He has a picture of his personal IRO Jamie Roy with 650b wheels on it. Looked nice. Velo Orange only sells 650 size wheels for their bike kits as well.

This might have been mentioned, but I decided to ride Medium sized clips, and am able to avoid toe overlap all together. Although, I do have quite a bit of rake on my fork
|
I ride a Kilo TT, which on the 60cm frame has pretty tight clearance of the front wheel. Surprisingly toe overlap has only ever once been a problem, and it was while riding really slowly trying to trackstand
Pedal strike on the other hand.. (and I have 165mm cranks!) Though I think it's cause I tip my feet forward sometimes. |

http://wheelandsprocket.com/itemdetails.cfm?id=7126 and wondering how small is too small. Keep in mind the Dauphine is a rather petite rider. |

Yeah, Pedalstrike. I am looking at a smaller IRO frame, and wondering myself what size cranks to get for it. IRO only offers down to 165mm, even on the Mark V HD.

a photo(s) of the problem would be interesting.

There was one. The OP deleted it in shame.

Nooooo!

I too have short legs and wish there were more more crank selections shorter than 165mm. There are differing theories on proper crank length, however, it is generally agreed that shorter people need cranks less than 165mm. This calculator http://www.machinehead-software.co.u...alculator.html will give you a good idea.

The Bullet Crank I linked to has a 160mm, a 155, and a 150mm, but I don't want to overdo it and get a crank that is too small.

oh. It was 157.075 :)

Cool. Thanks for the info, I figured in my head originally that 150mm cranks would be freakishly short, to boot, I have a knee problem, so short crank, less torque is probably the way to go for me.

I had a mountain bike with overlap. Harsh realm.

I never knew a true track frames has the front wheel slightly touching the pedal. Everything is fine then, I can deal with it!
|
My Univega and Pinarello road bikes have had mild overlap also. Just be careful when you trackstand or decide you need to do a 3' diameter turn. Track stands on the Univega when I ran full fenders got kinda ugly sometimes.

I'm tiny, so most bikes I've tried have toe overlap. In practice though, overlap has only ever been an issue for me when I'm going reeeeeeally slow like in traffic. Helped a little to go clipless rather than toe clips. Eventually you just get used to it. On a bike with a freewheel, it becomes habit to position your feet to prevent overlap at slow speeds.
