I understand that. but eh... I've volunteered at a community bike store and swapped tyres from various makes. I've never seen a tyre with as little "stretch/clearance" as the Zaffiro. I even cheated by using screw drivers. no luck.

of course I can't really blame the manufacturer... after all, I'm not a bike mechanic. Probably, I'm doing something wrong :/

I know this will seem mediocre to those who bust out 30-50miles a day but...

I rode 5.5mi in 20 minutes, did something that resembled intervals. Then immediately after I ran 1.5 miles in 12 minutes, which is pretty slow for me, but I'm guessing the bike played a factor in that. I hate running

What always amazed me about difficult tire installations is that how no one ever mentions using any sort of lubricant to help the process.

I mean, you're trying to slide a piece of rubber onto a piece of aluminum, pretty much anything will work. I use a fast evaporating silicone spray when I'm at my house. If I'm on the road I'll just spit on the rim, it works every time.

I typically use a tiny bit of dish or hand soap at the shop.

Yesterday I sold my Canyon (hopefully). The guys going to pick it up and pay for it on Wednesday. In advance of getting that money, I bought a bunch of stuff for my new roadie build today.

Finally got some bike time last night. My dad has his roadie set up on a mag trainer, and since he and I are both right around the same size/measurements, it was comfortable to use his bike. 1.5 hrs in his 80 degree apt. killed me though. So much sweat. But legs feel good today.

While most people won't consider the Kool Stop tire bead jack practical to carry on a ride, it is super-hand to keep at home or in the shop for the occasional blister-inducing tire.

Today I feel like death. So ****ing sick. Didn't sleep at all last night. Haven't eaten, cause everything comes up instantly.

Missed an econ exam today. We'll see what happens.

Today I'm back in LA after a long, cold, and largely miserable trip to Philly. As cool as my hometown may be, I'm glad to have my sunshine, peace, and quiet once again. feelsgoodman.jpg

Today insurance is finally trying to inspect my car. Meanwhile I'm getting around in a little rental Sentra and wondering what I'm going to replace the old car with. Right about now I'm hoping for a forester to show up for sale.

Wow... Levi's Gran Fondo, one of the bigger ones here in Cali, is $150... I thought that was too steep. $280 is just stupid.
