I honestly don't care enough to do a comparison. You being snooty about it isn't going to change my mind either.

... Anyway. Today I am going to participate in a 2-mile group ride through Richardson Grove (in the redwood forest near Garberville) in celebration of the fall harvest. Yes, TWO miles. I thought it was a joke or a typo. Should be fun, though. I'm going to miss the redwoods so much when I leave for Idaho.

Today I'm heading out for yet another swim meet. Yesterday we met this guy:

He gave us some words of encouragement and shared his life story (he got diagnosed with testicular cancer just before the 2008 Olympic Trials, was able to compete before enduring treatment/surgery). Chatted it up with him later in the evening and got his autograph. Also, he does some work with LIVESTRONG too. He's a really cool guy.

Today I found out I should have surgery on my left shoulder. It seems that due to an accident a year ago that resulted in a dislocation, my collarbone sits about an inch behind and half inch above where it should actually be. On that note, I'm gonna ride 15 miles to a concert, play drums, and then ride 15 miles home. Good times.

today i bought ridiculously expensive rando bars and levers all taped up and then put them on. they were the 26.0 version and i have a nitto 25.4 stem, and that should not have been a big deal but the stem was THE BIGGEST ***** IN THE WORLD and i swore and cursed and hit things and threw metal against metal and punched my bed and had a fit of rage for about an hour before just heating the metal up enough to bend it enough to get the bars in.

I feel your pain, but I lol'd.

Today I did another metric. The secret to dealing with the 12 microclimates in the peninsula area? Wool.

Five minutes with a Dremel and a steady hand would have been an easier fix.

rode the ALS ride today in napa valley. supposedly a century "lite" at 92 miles but my friend and i got lost and ended up finishing up at around 108 (made a second 1/2 pass up mount veeder before realizing i was off course). actually feel pretty great right now, but some saddle pains will probably keep me off the bike for another day or two.

Today I:

Went out for a 20 mile ride. Forcast was for rain, so I threw on the fenders. 15 miles into it, the rain starts dumping... It was one of the best rides I've been on. Too bad I wear glasses and could barely see anything. Definitely good times!

Also noted that today was the first time I've ever felt a lack of braking power...

As happy as I was that we had our first rain today... I wasn't happy it started in the middle of a ride.
