indeed you would. after applecare hard drive replacement number three, i was thinking "okay time to get a new computer" and then my fourth hard drive failure... just last week i put in a new disk, just installed snow leopard, and i'm going to sell this before something really goes wrong.

today i wore my orion outside for the commute(bliss) and the group ride(stylish bliss, though i probably could have done without the technical midlayer up the biggest hill in the proper city) and love it. sexually.

avner 10-11-11 04:27 AM

That's great news Avner!

Today's highlight was I spent a little over 2 hours in the la jolla apple store waiting on the genius bar during the monday lunch time rush which was quite backlogged with seniors trying to figure how to use a mac/ who shouldn't be near a computer after doing something stupid to their mac; worse was I didn't have an appointment either.
This began in the morning when I noticed my laptop was replaced by a mac book pro with a note from the mrs. ending with XOXO. The third time this year so far; for the exact same reason, a dead logic board as the genius diagnosed and snicked with his coworker after seeing the service record for the machine and its much better than average specs.
This macbook has been nothing but trouble since the day they built it for her; it was delayed 2 weeks because of the upgrades we paid extra for. Definitely buying the 2 year applecare extension.
You would expect more when you pay the premium for it.

JELLY that you can just walk into an apple store without an appointment. Last time I tried to do that, I waited 30 minutes just to "schedule" an appointment for the next day... Was 5 minutes late to it and they told me I had to schedule a new one... I do not like apple stores.

Oof; but I think I ran into the manager when I checked in, the only mature looking female employee there who was not running around for customers and had a blue apple sweater on as opposed to the t shirts all the other geniuses had...

Today I spent a bit more than I had planned to on bike parts for the week.

Pretty sure those are fake. We've had them here, too.

Today I read this page of the "Today I:" thread and decided to continue not buying Apple products for the rest of my life.

ddeadserious 10-11-11 12:58 PM

Today I rode to school and used my iPhone and MacBook Air with absolutely no issues.

This was the reason my wife's MBP was delayed.

On another note; did you guys hear of the news of Apple releasing the iCoffin and iTombstone on Friday coinsiding with Steve Job's funeral? I can't wait!

coma061 10-11-11 01:31 PM

I bought my "winter beater" from a LBS. It's my first brand new bike since a BMX in like 6th grade. I know it's kinda cheap quality, but it's way better than my GT mountain bike to road fixed conversion.

Now to really start paying things off and save for my own apartment.

Leukybear 10-11-11 03:21 PM

Today I ran over a longboarder and it was totally justified on my part.

I was running to another classroom for a section I teach when I reached this group of undergrads running classes too. One of them had a ridiculously long longboard clunched by his arm turned totally unexpectedly and wacked one of the ends of my bullhorns with his board, causing me to wreck. He entirely broke my fall nonetheless and at the speed I was going, I wouldn't be surprised that I broke one of his ribs. I was speechless at what happened and left without a word; I didn't have anything good to say and didn't want to make a scene yelling at him for his stupidity. The right side nitto bar end cap of my rb-002 is now scratched to hell thanks to his damn grip tape.

nuhtowel 10-11-11 03:42 PM

At least you didn't get hurt, some idiot here on a walmart mountain bike with no brakes flew out in front of me once and I T-boned him, he broke my fall but I smacked my face against his chest.

yummygooey 10-11-11 03:44 PM

What do you teach?

Kids here are dumb, too. That's why I ride on the streeetttzzz.

jdgesus 10-11-11 03:59 PM

Fixed a rear flat, put on new chain, 16 mile ride, cut my hair, did 4 loads of laundry, about to walk the dog. Productive day.

Realized that my rear wheel needs to be trued. Over a year and a half on a BD bike without needing one.

EpicSchwinn 10-11-11 06:05 PM

Today I 15t'd and got rid of my 18t. Now I've got a whopping 61.7 GI! My knees are killing me! /sarcasm. It's no longer in the sweet spot for single track but it's a lot more liveable for getting around campus and fast enough to ride on the streets if need be.

calbob76 10-11-11 06:08 PM

could you throw on 2 cogs with a spacer in between for the best of both worlds or would that make your chainline too far off?

Sherblock 10-11-11 06:15 PM

Today I'm pretty sure I failed a Chem AP test. It was hard.

EpicSchwinn 10-11-11 06:17 PM

It would be really nice to have both but chainline + chain tension would be off substantially. Not gonna run a chain tensioner either. Mmmmmaybe some day I might go IGH.
