I ride with a guy that has one. I like it, I like it a lot. I'd like one in yellow

hamfoh 11-04-11 11:59 PM

it gets more compliments than my Mash for sure too, though maybe it's because white is so flashy

anyway, today I saw m83. life complete.

Balderdash. They just intimidated by your hustle.

Today I talked my wife into letting me buy another bike. Scrod's 722 will be mine! I also fin.ally decided on a Christmas present for her (tattoos), and cut my hair into a mohawk and dyed it purple. Pics at some point. I just realized that I have about 50 pics I need to upload here...

Today I worked (volunteered) the first night of Bicycle Film Festival Chicago. I also did goldsprints for the first time. I had to go up against a dude because there weren't enough tall women (one bike was small and the other was big). I lost, of course, and it was crazy hard but fun too. I actually got a fast enough time to make it to the next round of sprints but I was working and knew I wouldn't win the next round anyway so that was it for me. I'm not sure my legs could have taken another sprint.

Now I'm trying to warm up after standing in the cold working the bike valet for almost an hour, then riding home. Brrrrr....

Don't the new Soma Rushes use those dropouts also ?

Scrodzilla 11-05-11 08:22 AM

That's what Epic Schwing was talking about on the previous page.

Today I took my Schwing on my rollers. Man I suck at rollers.

calv 11-05-11 01:25 PM

Damn, I wish I had rollers. I would love to be able to ride but I'm sick as hell. I'd be awesome riding on them with my long sleeve fleece, thick wool hoodie, scarf, and big puff vest in sw8 sweats right now.

Plus I'm looking for a beat commuter bike. ANyone know where I can score a cheap (and I mean cheap) road frame I can just convert? Craiglist time I guess. I'm also having trouble figuring out what my next move is to build this Kagero. Should I get the cranks/chainring after my wheelset?

hamfoh 11-05-11 01:31 PM

me too. I do not like the trainer I got

EpicSchwinn 11-05-11 03:28 PM

Today I bought a 59cm Soma Rush frame in Khaki Green.

NICE! Are you just going to swap parts from the Schwinn over, or are you building this one up?

P.S. ****, you're tall.

EpicSchwinn 11-05-11 04:49 PM

Thanks guys! I am very excite.

@jaytron - I'm going to swap everything over for now except seatpost, headset, fork, and bottom bracket. Once I get it rideable I'll see what needs to be changed.

Oh, and I'm only 6'1" but I have a 35" inseam.

:O

I hope you're keeping the Schwinn, she's pretty.

Dude, if you are 6'1" and have a 35" inseam the last thing you need is a 59cm top tube. You need a shorter top tube and a longer seat tube. Basically you probably need a 56cm bike with a long seat post.

The 59cm top tube will prove to be very long for you.

Notice how you run lots of seatpost now and a short stem?
http://www.pedalroom.com/p/1987-schw...ler-2742_1.jpg

With a 59cm bike, your stem will be even shorter, adversely affecting handling.

Scrodzilla 11-05-11 05:12 PM

EpicSchwinn 11-05-11 05:34 PM

Just as a note, the schwinn was a hand-me-down so the short stem is just what it came with. I think my arms are average for someone of my height. Think I should call them up and switch it for a 57cm?

edit: Geo charts say effective top toob is 578mm.
