Yeah, it can be rebrazed but then the paint would be ruined. Not a big deal, but repairs cost money and if I want the frame to be pretty again then that's even more money.

Yesterday I ordered a MW Vandal. I'm stoked. Today I realized that something in my headset got all sorts of jacked up during shipping back from Texas. I've tried adjusting it to no avail. Time to take it in to the LBS. Also, at work I had my first ever panic attack. It happened in the middle of the dinner rush (unrelated other than horrific timing) so it was ****ing awesome. I just kinda felt like everything was falling apart and that everyone I love is going away and my life was changing rapidly and I didn't like the way it looked to be going and I didn't know what to do. Intense. I did not like it.

Hairnet, I would just ask around to see if anyone you know can tig weld... If they're any good they should be able to fix that right up for you. It would suck because they would have to remove a lot of paint from around there, but at least you'll have a structurally sound bike again.

Today, in about 6 hours, I am getting my head shaved to raise money for pediatric cancer research. My team has raised $4700 so far.

Goodbye, hair!

You'll love it. I have short business hair and i can't even handle it. So close to shaving it off. Might go for a hawk first.

I initially read this as "can this be fixed" as in a fixed gear. As in made into a fixed gear. Oops.

Er, I would check with a knowledgeable welder/frame builder about this first. Welding isn't as simple as "melt the metals to join them together," guys. Each time the metal is heated, the metal surrounding the weld becomes slightly weaker. The weld itself will be very strong (when properly done), but you can't just weld and re-weld metal ad infinitum and expect it to be perfectly fine.

I have experience TIG welding.

Please do not present your guesses or intuition as factual information. It's one thing to say "I think you can try this" or "what if you do this" and quite another to say "do this; it'll work great." (I realize that this is an impossible task to ask from any forum, but sigh...)

Haha, when I was in high school, my English teacher told me that one of the signs of becoming an adult is when most/all of your female friends get haircuts. Or as you put it, "short business hair."

Or have babies, or get fat.

aaarg my girlfriend had long curly hair when we met and cut short about a year ago :(

Jaytron 03-16-12 03:15 PM

Today I am happy because I confirmed that there's a track session tomorrow since there's only a 30% chance of rain.

hamfoh 03-16-12 03:21 PM

today I wrote 37 reviews for Universal Cyclist as part of their "VIP Test Pilot Review" program. $1 credit per review (of stuff you've bought from them). Time to get me a new saddle ;)

Leukybear 03-16-12 03:27 PM

Today I can proudly say that I ate **** because of some idiot on one of these:

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...PL._AA300_.jpg

When I got up he doesn't even bother asking me if I was alright and goes on a tirade blasting that I don't have control while his the one on a "ripstik" (it's a fad toy skateboard with ONLY 2 wheels & the middle of it has a pivot which any person would common sense would not ride).
I don't know how but his ripstik hit my rear wheel and got under it. I basically put the last words by complimenting how nice his ripstick was and how his a genius and totally heterosexual for choosing that as a mode of transportation.
And oh yeah, worse comes to worse is when I'll have to call my wife for a ride home as my new phil to veep rear is toast. Shortest lived wheel ever in my books.

craigcraigcraig 03-16-12 03:47 PM

Rip stick is a fun time. Bummer about the crash.

She shaved it a couple years before meeting me. It's funny how male she looks bald

carbonclincher 03-16-12 04:57 PM

took advantage of the beautiful weather and got about 35 miles in with some sprint interval training as the track was still wet, damn! I need to get a bigger chainring, 85 gear inch isnt cutting it anymore (although hills can be a bit strenuous)

Woah man, 85 GI...you must be a beast. I run almost 20 GI lower than that around here with all these steep ass hills.

Invictus35 03-16-12 06:35 PM

Today I had to walk in the rain to go get my ID from the co op I left it at last night while finished up my fixed gear bike.

Yesterday I finished it by adding a front brake. Then at 9pm I rode to taco bell and bought a 12 taco box for myself because of a craving I had. To say the least, that was the most fun I've had riding a bike. This is my first fixed gear and I have to say its exhilarating. It's a shame I put the front brake on, I didn't use it at all over the course of my 2 mile ride. I'm still trying to figure out how to skid...but idk if I'll even be able to do it with the 46-16 I have on there.

The day before that I slapped together ever part of my bike from BB to new tires.

And I'm super upset right now. It's raining in the bay area and I can't ride. But I think I'm going to tomorrow anyway. Cheers

Dannihilator 03-16-12 06:44 PM

Today I threw the mtb around for awhile.

Is mucky going also? It's pouring here in SF so I assumed it'd be too wet for tomorrow.

jdgesus 03-16-12 09:22 PM

today i finally rode my bike.
