Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Today I switched out a 15t cog to 18t with a 42t chainring, had so much more fun spinning - might have been the first day of sun in a month and a half, but had so much energy "accidentally" hit 33 on small downhill

realized biking is seriously the best thing known to man with my hair all flying back and a huge smile on my face

ugh, I effing hate to play leap frog with people. Just tell them they aren't getting anywhere any faster and drop them.

Today I worked until a little after 5. Found a couple old shimano books containing the BB info I needed. Bought a BB. Came home and swapped some cranks on my road bike and watched the Giants game. Now i'm going out for chili cheese dogs.

I heard an ugly noise coming from my pedals which had been mildly squeaking earlier. I took them apart for a good overhaul and found that a bearing had cracked in half! I'm glad I caught that before anything seized up. A frozen pedal with clips could be a little dangerous :O

Said bearing:

Reminds me of my first fixed experience. Suddenly cycling wasn't 'work' but really really fun.

EDIT: sorry for the dupe

I honestly want to try 46 x 19 for the same reason, but I'd barely be able to control myself downhill (10-18% grade) and I try to make limited use of my brake.

What the hell, I'll do it tomorrow.

FML after making the gear change I noticed my rear wheel was under tensioned. The things a wheel build will teach you :-/

So I just spent that last two hours (yes, it is now 2:45am) tensioning and truing my wheel with just a brake caliper to guide me

Today I found out the people up stairs have really nice smelling shampoo, but too bad I had to find this out by having their drain water fill up my sink and soak my floor.

I watched that too. Then went for a quick 10 mile ride, could not decide where to go for dinner and rode home.

Today I blew my stack on the dude at the post office for not scanning a package I shipped to vw addict, rendering the tracking info completely useless. Normally this wouldn't be much of a problem but the package seems to be MIA.
