Yesterday I went to Hellyer, met up with BF peeps. Pretty f*ckin sweet. I'll be back next week.
90GI was too much lol. I couldn't fast enough. Took too long to spin up for me. Jaytron's buddy took some sweet pics: http://michaeljamesphotostudio.smugm...-2SRhGqD-M.jpg |
Yesterday I saw the 2012 rush hour pro raiders color way. Stupidly impressed with how good it looks. Been riding FTP all over and loving it

I feel better when I'm faster than people who were faster than me before. Regardless. It was a "race" and I got first. I'm happy about it, so suck it. nice win. |

Today I rescued the sqrls bike from a winter of commuting. Thing was dirty! Now it has new tires, new seat post, and brakes that work (since there is no longer 2mm of crust coating the wheels)

4100ft, ouchies. ~30 miles with a solid group. Four stops and an average of 14mph of steady upwards grade. If anyone here is up for a sick race, check this out: http://spokedstl.com/general/stl-crash-race.html http://wolfpackhustle.com/ We have wheelsets and a whole bunch of other stuff from sponsors for prizes and its free to race. If you're pretty close to the area, you got a place to crash if you need one (I promise I'm not an ******* in real life.) Its the first time anyone has tried this in St. Louis, so we're all really excited for it. Logistics have been hammered down and one our guys has been talking to cops and marathon officials to keep it legitimate. You don't have to race if you don't want either. Its a fun opportunity to ride the city with blocked off streets, and this route takes you through some of the most scenic parts of the city. Reposting in midwest regionals as well. |
Today, I swapped risers back onto my Kagero. Mostly because a friend wants to "finish" his build so he can start riding it, so I'm letting him borrow my MASH horns, and I really don't mind riding on risers. So damn comfy, I don't care how tarcky it looks.
|
I think it really helps to have a few different bar/stem combos on hand, because yeah its fun to do 15 miles on risers but when you want to do 45 miles and you don't want to stop, you need more than one hand position.

You know you love it. I actually like hard climbs because I like to push and I'm sure you're the same if you beast it on the track.

They have one of those Marathon Crash races down in southern california too. Seems super fun. |

I like the hand positions too, because pedaling out of the saddle feels weird on the tops. I imagine I wouldn't like risers, but I've never tried them. |

I think this season I will finally do it and my gf and I want to take to the class at sd velodrome once the season dies down late summer. We both already own steel track bikes, would just take a quit handlebar/stem change. I'm interested in points races in particular. They seem like souped-up crits. |

I like the low grades we have here, but I would probably hate what you guys have out there. Yeah two dudes from here went and have been working with Roadblock to set this all up. |

Are you that guy in the picture?
I know plenty of guys with guts who would ride you into the ground. I just get a kick out of how many times I've heard people on less expensive bikes say something along the lines of, oh yeah! I smoked a guy on a cervelo p5 with 1080's! like they think that makes them a stronger rider (I am not saying this is the case with jaytron, I have never met him nor do I have any idea how he rides.) We all have, and its kind of funny. |

Yesterday I went to Hellyer Velodrome for the first time and met up with Nagrom and Jaytron. I'll definitely be back next week. After my second practice keirin race my sit bones were killing me. I have done multiple +50mi rides and my sit bones were never in so much pain. I decided to check out my bike fit and plugged in some measurements into the calculator. I raised my saddle about 3cm and I'm still 1cm under the recommended bb-saddle range and add another 1cm after that because of my cleats stack height. My initial setup wasn't even slammed low and it tells me I should raise that up by almost 2 inches. I rode around the block and it felt okay. My weekly WPH ride is tomorrow night so I guess I'll have a good feel for it there.

My lats were/are hella sore from the track. The saddle to bar drop that the fit calc dished out is ridiculous. It wasn't uncomfortable, it just used my shoulder muscles a lot more.
I know for a fact I'm not using the stock saddle on the kilo next week. so meh. |

So, my phone is going to die and I won't be able to get pictures of the next part, but I'm about to go bowling with Converge and Git Some. For free. Man, what a rad night.
|
Oh, I forgot to mention (Nagrom is jelly of my sqrl supping), but I supped a sqrl at a food truck event thing, and ate like a king for free the whole day.
