trying to decide whether to just get studded snows to have on hand, or wait until i actually start having difficulty. so far the Conti Winters have been great, but i'm a "prepare for the worst" sort of guy usually.

also getting used to sharing office space after having my own for seven years. wow, there are a lot of emotionally delicate special snowflakes out there....urg.....spank your inner moppet and -move on-.....

Today I headed down to Boston to help out my buddy -- brought a shimano front brake caliper, Tektro lever, hooked him up. This for his work bike.

While there, also grooved on his geared bike with the Franken-drivetrain I put together: was a Jamis with Shimano 2300 8sp drivetrain; now still 8sp, but SunRace microshift 8sp shifting, original chain and cassette, Dura Ace 9sp long cage rear der, orig 2300 front der, Ultegra Arabesque fluted cranks, current model 105 10sp chainrings... Works better than it has any right to...

I have someone coming to purchase my Tarmac tomorrow, so I cleaned it up tonight. The last thing I did was pump up the tires, and as soon as I pulled the chuck off the front valve, all of the air dumped out because the Specialized stock tubes suck. This is the 3rd one I've killed right at the valve. Not amused.

Nagrom_ 11-27-12 10:11 PM

Gotta hurry up and sell that mac so I can buy the remaining parts. Came in at 1252g, fork came in at 348g.

I was waiting for all the "jackass" comments to start.

today i found this:

then i linked it to you all on bfssfg.

also almost ran over a professor in our office golfcart on campus, felt bad about it since i actually had this prof and she was a cool old hippie silver fox

p.o.s. has no headlights or even a wiper at this point, and the brake pedal is basically placebo at this point

sorry prof scimeca.

Struggled to get through class this morning. Grateful this quarter is almost over, the students have been awesome but our program situation kinda sucks.

Also patted myself on the back for not buying another frame this past weekend. I don't know what the hell I was thinking, I barely find the time to ride the two bikes I have now, my 722 hasn't been ridden in weeks. And I actually had another frame in my cart, ready to go. I knew there was a reason why I didn't go through with the purchase. I really need to put things in perspective sometimes. I have barely enjoyed my Leader and I was already set on getting some high end frame. Now I can put that money towards an electric guitar, or for a vacation trip with my wife.

Came back from an 8 mile run with my wife. I am super beat right now, my record is 4 miles and the wife and I were having such a good talk that I just kept going with her. She does 8 miles easily and I am amazed because right now, every time I move something aches.

Tonight was pint night at one of the local bars. I'm so ****ed right now. And some girl asked me about my hat (wore a cycling cap), and I totally scored a name/number. **** yea bieks. I love this town. Definitely texting this girl tomorrow.

Edit: got pulled over half a block from home, and the cop let us go. Damn good tuesday night.

Coincidentally, to that point:

Buddy of mine fixes up salvaged cars. Here's his brand spankin new 2013 ZR1 Corvette. Remember kids, don't drink and drive. Owner didn't make it.

i would not have the patience to fix that.

is the zr1 the really badass one thats like $175k?

in related news: i saw a mercedez suv flipped over in an intersection of a 30mph road last week on my ride, how do you **** that up?

The base price on a ZR1 is $112,600. I don't know what kind of perks this one had. But yeah, it's their highest end corvette.

He estimates a couple hundred hours of work to get it looking new.

cruiserhead 11-28-12 02:07 PM

ZR1 is worth it for the drivetrain alone.
I would just pull it all and drop it into something else. Good score if the motor/tranny is solid.

Mumonkan 11-28-12 03:49 PM

screw that noise. its an incredible vehicle but..not for me.

i remember watching home improvement and seeing him build his hot rods and being like jesus, how do you not kill yourself?

but i can totally understand why someone would like it, i just dont have the patience

Nagrom_ 11-28-12 03:50 PM

If you take the engine out of a corvette, it ain't a corvette anymore, and it's now hard to sell

Anyone remember the Chevrolet SSR? Exactly.

Dannihilator 11-28-12 07:08 PM

Today I finally caved and put a bell on the 930, but rigged it so that it will operate via brake lever.
