Have you heard of the 3rencho?
http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-1295478...2164_189282882 It's great for a small saddle bag, I currently have one in my commute kit; the design is for torque to be applied through stepping on the lever. There's also a raw edition that's cheaper. |
Today I stopped by my local recumbent shop (only decent shop in town) and tightened my headset, and picked up a free pair of mustache bars for my girlfriends new ride. I'll take some pictures when its finished.

Today,
I went for a ride on one of my regular routes. There is a right turn that doesn't stop that has a bush right at the crest. A cat jumped out right in front of my and I went down. Poor cat, poor bike |
That was somebodies cat you know.
|
Today I did a metric century and had a great time on the ride.
Tomorrow: Pumptrack if weather is not bad. |

It happens, I've been hitting a lot of birds this year for some reason.

Today my team and I placed 4th in Team Sprint at Masters Track Nationals. Pretty stoked about that.
|
Congrats.

Today, my plan to surprise my wife with the upgrades she wanted all pre - installed mysteriously was ruined by ours truly at the usps and fedex and her boss letting her out early. I doubt anybody could resist opening unexpected boxes especially when they were all piled up on the porch for you to arrive from work. Anyhow, I went about installing the upgrades and changes to my wife's via condotti with her as sqrl helper and patched my tire after commuting to and from work on my roadie; I nearly left my sidi's in my office drawer while leaving. Now she's begging me to go for a night ride with her. She's going to get her way. :)

Yeah I know, I was going to do something about it, but by the time I got my butt off the road, I didn't see the cat anywhere. I feel bad about it

you're so excited to have her biking that you're already upgrading the bike she just got, of course she's going to get her way for the foreseeable future :) That's awesome though. Girls I've dated have always tried to get into riding with me, but their interest always fades over time. I always got nervous, for their safety, when we'd ride for some reason too. It was never as enjoyable as it should've been.
Nah she's into cycling already... let's just say, me leaving a "loaded" roadie (my previous bianchi nirone; DA 7900 (it was my orbea orca's stock group and I swapped it over when I went red; it was my back up bike basically), easton tempest carbon) in the garage while I was gone and BART (the subway back in the bay yayay FYI) charging for parking at our neighborhood station (my wife's BART tab is company covered) gave her commute ideas. Paired with some womanly innovation, she rode my bike with heels before a cycling workmate of hers saw what she was doing and then gave the bike a impromptu fit adjustment/ parts swap so she could ride with flat soled shoes/ speedplay (I had them on there as I run them primarily. Yes, she bought her own clipless shoes (sidis!!!! I totally have a feeling she got persuaded/ taken advantage of by a LBS; especially when I notice there's a pint sized size 39 pair of genius 6.6's in our shoe rack) and paired them with cleats I had in my parts bin. The bike ended up with a much more recessed seatpost height from how I had it (not close to slammed through thanks to the nirone convex TT) and a short knubby stem; I mentioned impromptu fit because the frame was oversized for her no matter how you adjust it, she would have to lean the bike to the side when she dismounts for a light. Nonetheless that is all about to change when she goes home and finds the properly/ womanly sized orbea orca di2 that I built up for her through a CL bargain and parts swap over form the nirone. |

Knowing that what I was attempting was stupid, I proceeded to smash my fingers into the edge of my large chainring while removing a pedal. I didn't take the road bike down from its pulley mount, but rather reached up and tried to take off the pedals by squeezing a hex wrench against the crank arm for leverage. I needed pedals for my fixed gear, having broken the clipless mount on one yesterday.
Now I have two greasy, gritty puncture holes in my right index and middle fingers. Bleeding... This is pretty stupid for an old guy who knows better. PG |
