Today I went on a ride with my buddy who just moved into my apartment complex. We got a few miles in and start riding residential streets just to see random parts of town. We hit a street that is a dead end (but not posted as one) and see a trail at the end and get stoked. Well, the last house on the street has an unleashed german sheperd chilling on the front lawn and he gives chase. We start sprinting to the trail only to find out it ends about 1/4 mile away, and I get a flat trying to sprint through the gravel. Dog gives up, we catch our breath and start heading back, not knowing whats gonna happen. We see a dark blip slowly getting bigger. The dog is coming down the trail. ****. We take off through a field of pricker bushes, I fall facefirst into an anthill, and we armed ourselves with the biggest sticks we could find. The dog gets to us and grabs the stick out of my buddy's hand. He wanted to play fetch. If I'd had a full stomach I probably would've shat myself haha. Off to work!

Knocked down the 4th one today. Started putting together a lil roadie related somethin somethin right now. :lol:

Today I:

Did my first Metric Century... Not bad at all fixed, and no hill got me... We did end up going down a few too many dead ends, with an exciting illegal bridge crossing in for kicks... I also bombed down a hill and went the fastest I have ever gone, somewhere around 35-40mph (46/17 on 700x23c) which was a bit hectic with cars right behind me... but all in all it was a great ride! Got back from a ~70 mile bike ride today. It was amazingly fun and I had a blast riding it fixed. Only a few big climbs but I was able to get through them.

All went well until the return trip home. This happened to my friends rear hub:

We were able to make it back OK with a very slow pace. I really didn't want her to ride on this, but she didn't want to wait around to get picked up. LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY GIRL

Of the 6 riders I was one of two that didn't take a ride in the sag wagon. I fealt great the whole ride. We finished with a climb and I feel wrecked. We had lots of beer and food. I am not sure I will be able to ride again, maybe just bomb some of the hills

Got a good deal on a saddle at a swap meet.

knee is sore much more than usual after a ride on thursday and I've only been riding in very short spurts since. feels bad man.


tomorrow I start my daily commute in 105d heat with tons of humidity. I'm hoping a towel and a change of shirts is going to be enough, but I'm going to over-prepare for day 1 just incase I'm wrong.

I came within a hairs length of a side view mirror today; stupid drifting drivers should learn how to drive straight.

Today i went for a ride with my roadie buddy even though I didn't really feel like biking. I guess I forgot how much fun it is to ride fast since I've just been mountain biking it lately! It ended up being a fun, albeit short ride.

Now I'm on bfssfg in my lycra. :lol:

almost biked to mt. diablo from alameda, could see it at the "inspiration point" on the way up. maybe some other day. total of 55 miles so no count for the metric century contest thing.

did a backflip off the dock. i'd never done a backflip before.

also dirtjumped in two different sets of jumps. twas fun.

I've been messing around with my wife's work supplied thinkpad that she totally forgot about since coming here and receiving it; thanks to her mbp.
Being an anemic looking no frills enterprise business laptop, it packs a quite a heavy punch; SSD, 6gb ram, i5, standalone graphics card. Even had a fingerprint scanner that the company made my wife set on premises. I'll be yanking this for my own use; one less thing to worry about now on the commute considering if it does break it'll be replaced by her company. :D

First day of class... 10mi ride to campus doesn't seem like such a big deal this semester.

I should've started with early classes to beat the heat. Doing about the same in about 90 minutes

Today is my first day of unemployment.

Friday I quit my job to go back to school full-time to finish my degree.

Today is my first day of school. I'm sitting around in the art building downtown waiting for drawing 1 to start because my last class got out early since it's the first day. After drawing I have an hour and a half break so I'm gonna go hangout with my buddy who works at the lbs that's really close and then go to my last class of the day on the actual campus a mile-ish away.

You can get unemployment when going to school full time?

First day of classes, and I don't have half of them due to my professors creating a picket line over their contracts.

I guess I worded that wrong, I'm not collecting unemployment, I just don't have a job anymore.

Ah ok, I was about to quit my job and go back to school if you could collect unemployment while doing so. Haha
