Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

It could be worse. Winnebago County, Illinois, for example.

my office building has written in the lease "no bikes in the offices, common areas inside the office..." as well as saying they can't block the sidewalks, etc. but no bike racks or anything to lock a bike to on the property. my bike tires aren't any dirtier than my shoes Good thing I'm the one in charge - it resides in my office anyhow

So sorry your bike was stolen!

wow that sucks. fortunately we're allowed to roll our bikes into our individual office rooms at work. with that being said, i usually u lock the frame and wheel if i have to step out for a lengthy period of time.

luckily it wasn't my bike. she was up against the column and another bike was leaning on her so she wasn't easily accessible. i was actually thinking too that morning that i should put her somewhere where i can just grab her without moving any of the other bikes because i was going to have lunch with a friend. good thing i didn't... but either way, IT SUCKS.

I'd just throw a lock on it anyhow inside or not.
I like how you assume he will eventually be fired.

You really think that's a wise way to stay employed?

Imagining if I were the employer, and I had already made a pretty big concession and let the bikes inside in the first place... and some jackass actually tried to blame me (ie hold me responsible) for this kind of a loss, you can bet the bike rack would be moved out in the middle of the parking lot exposed to the elements (both human and natural) ex post haste.

A wise way to stay employed... hell with that attitude, I wonder if it was wise to give you a job in the first place.

Geez.
