Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

sprained ankle + fixie = SUCK!

man, i sprained my ankle last night (missed the last of a set of stairs carrying a 50lb bass amp) and sprained the CRAP out of my right ankle. it hurt at first of course but then sort of faded away.... woke up this morning and it was pretty swollen and painful, but since it was raining and cold i said screw it and rode in to work anyway (i probably would have driven if it was nice out... wouldn't have felt like i was wussing out).

let me tell you, the first time i resisted the pedals it friggin HURT!! jeeze am i glad i've still got a front brake. by the time i got to work (about 6 miles in) my ankle was totally numb, so the pain was gone, but i'm relly hoping i didn't make things worse. moral of the story? watch your step.

can't wait for the ride home!

Bikes: A whole bunch-a bikes.

Halloween gig huh? I had one of those too, fun time. I've got to carry my Fender Twin backwards down narrow twisting stairs I know one of these days I am dead! Good luck on the recovery, dose on Ibuprophen.

You think that's bad? Try shttering your ankle, and then waiting 6 months for it to finally heal without biking. My walkin has been permantley affected, and now one foot kinda tilts away from by body like. Also, I cannot spin like I used to.

had the same experience with a broken collarbone a couple years ago, except i didn't wait for it to heal.... bad idea. i rebroke the thing twice, finally learned my lesson, and started taking the bus.

How's the amp? The last time I dropped my amp (solid state Crate) I had to have some connections re-done. It still has never sounded the same. I have a hiss that I can't get rid of.

free unasked for advise warning

ask around and find a good acupuncturist. I sprained my left ankle could almost walk with out falling down to save my ass, real pain better then a bear trap to the shin. got the needles and went from right foot dominant to left first.

same acupuncturist got my to "write" the alphabet with my ankle "to keep the nerves for getting lazy"

worked for my your mileage may vary

Dude, just sit back and have a fat seed cookie. It'll all make sense.
