$600 track frame

i'm looking for a steel track frame around $600, preferably less, for fast city riding. i'm looking at masi speciale sprint, traitor ringleader, soma rush, cinelli gazzetta, or anything else. i would really like something that was lugged with a threadless 1 1/8 headset, if anyone knows of any frames. anyway, which frame is superior in this price range?

Leader 722 comes to mind as another option.

Bikes: Cannondale Supersix Evo Hi-Mod, Soma Rush

out of all of those, i have an older soma rush. it's a great steel frame. it sometimes feels a little a faster than some of my aluminum frames, but i attribute that to the absorbing power of steel in general. i keep it at my parent's place in florida, so i don't get to ride it too much. however, i do fantasize about them shipping it up to me here in NY. it is a really nice ride, to say the least...

Bikeisland has a couple of lugged steel options, but both are 1" (one is threaded, one is threadless):

The Leader 722TS is sweet as well, but it's not lugged.

i have a gazzetta and its a great frame, but you could probably do better for less. i'm working on a LeveL build that's coming in way lower than what i paid for my Cinelli.

My vote goes to the Gazzetta. It's my dream steel track frame.

Not lugged, but USA handmade quality torch welded. FBM Sword. My frame was around $600.

said it before, say it again. My friend has one, for the price I'm not impressed. It's a nice quality steel frame, its fairly light (competes with my sputnik but it has a much nicer setup) and I don't think i'd pay a dime over 400 for the frame set, maybe 400.04.

the one you linked to was $800, congrats to your lack of understanding. And what does NJS get you anyway? The answer is nothing, oh butz the street cred.....the street cred.

You're essentially paying for the legendary Cinelli name... which I'm more than willing to do haha

think it was more like 500, re-read.

Street cred doesn't mean ****, honestly. for a well built, (not from taiwan/china) frame
lugged usually cost around 500 used, no matter the maker, it's just that njs, has a wide variety of frames on the market at any giving time, go ahead choose your color.
size could be an issue though.

I'm just saying, if you are about to burn 600 bucks, get something you might want to keep around for a while.
