newbie question about lockring

hello,
My wheel has the surly 'new' flip flop hub. I took it down to the bike shop and had them remove the cog/lockring on the fixed side., because I was wanting to put a different cog on.
When I got home, I screwed the new cog on, and proceeded to install the lockring, but found that it is also right-hand threaded, just like the cog. I thought the lock ring was supposed to be reverse threaded???? Am I doing this right??

well, congrats on either re-threading your lockring threads, or tearing a hole in the fabric of our very existence.

the 'ring threads opposite the cog. Unless you have it on the non-stepped, freewheel side, which would mean the cog and ring are the same diameter, which means that is not a "real" track-side (on the hub) lockring.

Nah, that's too easy a solution. I'm putting my money on a warp in the space-time continuum. Take your wheel outside and see if the hub swallows daylight.
