I'm sure glad my state doesn't give a crap about bikes.
Wait. |

i don't get the whole "muckybrake" thing. i had the exact same brake setup on a bike over a year ago simply because i didn't have enough brake cable reach any further. to me, it just seems like another clever place to stick a brake, nothing wildly out of the ordinary. (not to rain on your parade.) perhaps im just taking things too seriously.

I'm going to try this muck.

Pics of the set up on your concept? More specifically the rear kierin brake caliper?
|
i know this isn't a serious thing and all but if you're gonna run a brake why not just throw it up front where it'll actually be useful? just sayin :p

something about the law saying you need a brake that can lock up the rear wheel or else you might still get a ticket for having a front brake only.

Unless you've somehow managed to be everywhere all the time, you'll never really know.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5145/...d9b65530_o.jpg on the concept: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5083/...e5e3608b_o.jpg ill shoot some shots specifically for the keirin-brake-mount-a-la-homme-dépot later~ meanwhile this can get the discussion started. *p.s. guys the law says "skid" = think about it, you cant skid if its front only |
Indeed.
Thought I will say I haven't seen it either. I thought I saw a thread somewhere about the laws (I thought it was in this thread, but guess not) of having brakes. |

The interwebs.
and  gilmatic |
It must suck having cops and judges who're interested in enforcing the letter of the law and not its intent.

I really wanted to try this whole muckybrake thing, but I only have a front brake. So....here's my take on this design; I call it the suckybrake:

^ Yeah, the mechanic at the bike shop was confused too when I asked him to do the install (best to leave this kind of stuff to the pros)
I just told him "it's a fixie thing, you wouldn't understand" He charged me $85.00, I think I got a good deal. |
