Self annodizing?

Has anyone done this? I have purple late risers on the way and would want them black. If so how about a guide. Thanks.

Why did you buy purple when you want black?

Black Late Risers are powdercoated, BTW. Painting them or powdercoating may be your only options here.

Where I got them they only had purple, or I'd have gotten black. It would also be cool if you could annodize the machined wall of a rim. Brake power + murdered out = win!

My tattooist (also a jack of all trades) mentioned self annodizing that's why I thought I'd ask. He mentioned something with dye and a battery, but I was too stoned to retain all that info.

dupli color makes an anodizing spay paint. if the item in question wont get banged up a lot then i might work. i just painted some hubs with it. looks great, we will see how long it lasts... vht also makes a super tough epoxy spray paint that i have done rims with, holds up pretty damn well...

First to let you know, You cant self anondize because of one reason.

You need to strip the metal bare, That requires two things, One a very illegal product in CALIFORNIA idk bout you, (Very toxic basic chemical) OR you can go with the DISGUSISTING way of taking anondize off, That requires some nasty cooking material Maybe easy off or bake off or something, Also to anondize it you need to have a DC current flowing through the metal and have the first film bond first before you can even get color. For this to work you need a perfectly dust free enviromnent, IE paint booth.

I see you're back to your old self.

Using Easy Off to remove anodizing really isn't that difficult. Spray it on, let it sit and wipe it off.

Just get ripped and give it a go, I mean what could possibly go wrong? I think you drink the dye and hook the battery to your nipples, oh wait, no I think you attach the battery to your junk. Yeah, that's it, and the dye you use on your hair. You'll be fine, nothing to it.

We used to do this back in the days of lan parties with our PCs. It used to be soooo punk rock.

You need a bottle of RIT fabric dye, a ****-ton of ammonia, and a car battery with two leads attached. Put the **** in a bucket, fill it with liquid, stick the leads in there, and wait a day or two.

Or you could spend 20 bucks and take it to a powdercoater.

I thought anodizing used about 8000VAC.
