Today's Idiots

Commuting from work the biker in front of me almost gets hit by a car. A lady was driving while talking on her cell phone. She runs a red and slams her brakes. The biker swerves out into the road and yells at the lady for being on her phone. She rolls down her window and yells "Get the f*ck out the road you idiots". :roflmao:

EpicSchwinn 05-11-11 12:26 PM

grrrr...
One time a lady was walking slow right in the middle of a MUP and oblivious on her cell phone. Her friend was yanking on her harm to get her to move over so others could pass but she was totally clueless. When I passed her in the small amount of room she left open she freaked and yelled some words that Jesus doesn't like.

This morning I was coming up on an all-way stop and was the first to arrive at the intersection. But a dude in a convertible Mercedes came flying up to the intersection from the side street and it didn't look like he was gonna stop, so I gave him the right of way and went around the back of his car. (Sure enough he pulled half way into the intersection before finally stopping.) Only to be snarked at by a pedestrian at the corner "You're supposed to USE the stop sign."

Like three blocks later, some girl was crossing the street in front of me against the light and far away from the actual intersection/crosswalk and I couldn't tell if she was paying attention to me. I decided to stop short and let her go in case she misjudged her timing (and my light had turned red by then anyway) and she scoffed and rolled her eyes at me. I guess I was supposed to read her mind that she saw me and was going to time her jaywalking so that I didn't hit her.

One time when I was lycra clad on my carbon stallion back home in the bay area I was yelled at by a woman in a BMW to ride on the sidewalk..... Seriously? Anyway, she got at me only 3 blocks from my house; so I was juiced and made a pursuit on her just for fun. I followed her car through 3 cities on city streets and when she was making a turn on to highway at a light, I pulled up next to her and pounded her passenger side window yelling " hey do you remember me?". She freaked and ran the red right before highway patrol who snatched her up. Epic day.

Scrod should take off that "total bastard" on his avatar and you should use it from now on, ha.

As psychotic and dangerous as this is, I find myself doing the same thing.

yeah I love when people honk and yell stuff when they pass you only to be passed right back at the next light. one time during a group ride some a**hole threw a bottle at us but got caught by a red light right away. we dashed for him but he took a right turn and took off. it was a main street in the early am so no traffic and pure green lights. we could see his taillights at the next red he caught and I hauled ass trying to catch it but it went green and that was that haha

woulda loved to catch up to those @ssholes though... u-lock justice would've been had for sure. and I was carrying my .22 so i gotta say they woulda had his brains on the pavement :)

im kidding about the gun of course! just tryna one up the physcho posts haha

that aint nothing for LA. You should just take a walk on the Venice boardwalk or take a stroll around the major boulevards of Hollywood.
Just another of one of the guys

He then almost collided with a guy going on his beach cruiser down the side walk in the right directions. Made me realize that even if they had crashed, and possibly fallen into the roadway they probably would still not have realized what they were doing wrong.

 I've given up on trying to save them pretty much. Their darwinism assures the rest of us more resources, eh?

for alot of ppl, riding a bike takes ALOT of concentration and brain power.... its all they can do to just stay upright... let alone "be in traffic"

I dont ever condone this but iv had this same thing happen to me a guy walking down the middle of the bike lane, after yelling several times to move/watch out, he was so clueless I smacked the phone from his hands and kept on my way. Like I said I dont do this but some people need to get a check.

Gotti 05-11-11 05:07 PM

This happened about a week or so ago.
I was waiting for the light to turn green, as soon as it did, I started pedaling
Then my friend yells at me to watch out, but before I could move, I feel something push me.
It was a damn asian guy in a Lexus, He hit me with his car. I keep my balance then he passes and hauls ass only to stop at another red light. I catch up to him and slam his roof, (It's a lot louder than hitting the window) even before I could say a word, he splits. So I chase him, but couldn't catch up because he ran every redlight to avoid me.
I wish I got the dude's plate so I could charge with a hit and run

It seems all the dumbass drivers are in really expensive cars

I've done much worse.... don't worry about it. But since you're from oakland, I will tell you I do straddle ac transit and muni buses rear driver side wheelwells while riding when opportunity presents it self. The 2 part long buses are no go's however considering how ****ty the drivers can be.

Troof. More space from the good ol' boys in lifted trucks than the soccer moms and dads in beamers.

Oddly enough, today I had a Corvette convertible patiently slow down behind me and wait until it was safe to pass. Didn't rev the engine or anything, when he passed. It was the mid range sport ute that just had to go tearing around me, with oncoming traffic.

My favorites are the woman who had so much crap in her old beater that I would have sworn she was living in it, that tried to pull into the local park, through the left turn lane of the exit. I was in said left turn lane, waiting to leave the park. She finally realized where the entrance was, before she hit me. And, the woman who started through the stop sign, while I was crossing the intersection. (I had stopped, just after the pick up that had been in front of her.) I was watching her face, and she didn't even realize I was there, until I was almost completely past her. She looked pretty surprised, when she finally noticed me.

It's not just women drivers, either. I nearly hit the side of a car at the same intersection, when the guy driving it couldn't pay enough attention to know when his turn was. As I stopped, I could clearly see him bopping around to whatever music he was listening to.

Must've been a fellow cyclist in his coffin. I drive a decent car but I respect my fellow cyclists; builds up good karma. Feels good man.

You have inspired me.
I was on my way to class earlier and some car was following behind me, he seemed patient enough, but eventually the guy couldnt take it and tried to pass several times but was obstructed. Eventually I got stuck behind a right turning mail truck and as I try to pass it on the left the ass comes to my left and squeezes me towards the truck on my right. I follow him (goes along my route anyway) and 5 miles later I see him move to the right and pull into a parking space, so I pull up, wave to him, and ask if he remembers me. He looked pretty confused about what had just happened and the passenger was laughing
