A small Blackburn Voyager Click for the front. I throw on a Planet Bike Blaze for the back. Anyone who rides behind me says they get blinded by my back light.

Planet Bike: Blaze front, Super Flash rear. I added SpokeLites during this past winter. They dramatically increased my safety when riding home from work. I was very surprised at how well they got drivers attention. They'll be back on next winter.

This with a $5 flashlight mount off ebay + Energizer rechargeable batteries.
80-140 lumens... works well enough for around the neighborhood, and the whole setup ran me about $40-45 opposed to $150+ for a legit bike headlight.

niterider minewt 250 for black country roads after work and a blackburn blinky.

I have a 900 lumen light I use on the road sometimes (other times with a 200 lumen). With the 900 lumen, people tend to think I am a motorcycle or moped. I don't ride against traffic with that on though.

looking for the smallest front light possible that still serves some purpose. any suggestions? Leukybear says you can't see knogs at night so I guess a step up in lighting from that

Magicshine for the front. I usually run it on low on the road unless there are lots of potholes and poor street illumination. For the Rear I use Pricepoint's $10 knock off of the Superflash, it's a Sette something... It's every bit as bright as the superflash. The superflash's mount is a little sturdier though. I've had a few of the Sette ones break but for the price I can replace it. I also keep a Blackburn Flea set in my bag, just in case. I only carry the Magicshine if I know for sure that I'm going to be doing a lot of after dark riding. The flea is bright enough to get you home if things run late and the sun goes down while I don't have that monster of a primary light with me.

The knog beetles are really good and small.

On my road bike where weight is a issue I use a clip on led called Firefly from roadid.com https://www.roadid.com/Common/Catalog.aspx?C=Firefly. I clip the red on the back saddle bag strap, and zip tie a green one on the cables on the front. They weigh nothing, but have a narrow pattern of visibility and are seen well in early am or late pm.








Commuter bike I use a planet bike .5 watt blinky for the back, and 1 watt white front blinky from dealextreme.com Winter dark commutes and rides I add 2 magshine lights from dealextreme at 900 lumens. Best lights hands down and only $75 at https://www.dealextreme.com/p/ha-iii-...ight-set-25149 . I have used nite rider lights for years and now leave them in the box in the garage.

The Boomer actually just broke, and knog is going to send me a replacement along with goodies.

Planet Bike Blaze 1W for the front and a Blinky for the rear. Both pretty bright.

I was actually pulled over in Downtown Madison (WI) while riding at night without lights. Its a $76 ticket btw. Anywho, Bike Federation of Wisconsin, Planet Bike, and the local PD teamed up and were pulling over lightless bikers as well as stopping them at check points along bike routes. If you did not have a light, the police waived the ticket if you took and installed on spot the above mentioned lights. It was actually really awesome! So i scored them for freeeeeee.

I don't get why people buy front "bike" lights. They are expensive, don't light very well, and only aim at one place.

I've been using a $15 walmart headlamp for the last year and it worked 2x as well as my buddies $40 bike light. I'm ready to upgrade now though to something that will give me even better visibility to make riding at night more enjoyable.
I'll either get the Princeton Tec Remix which has a 170ft range at 70 lumens for $35ish or the Petzl Tikka XP2which has a 195ft range at 60 lumens for $40ish. I think a big difference is the Princeton is completely water proof but the Petzl is only water resistant. But the Petzl can be upgraded with a rechargeable battery pack for $40 more depending on how much i end up using it for other things too.

i use an LED flashlight that has a clamp attachment has 3 mode (one of them strobe) which is best IMO for dusk/dawn use...that catches peoples attention
