Anyone Clipped out of Eggbeaters while riding breakless?

Just wondering. I am thinking about running clip-less eggbeaters but I don't run breaks and last week I clipped out of my time peddles on my road bike so Im a little sketched out by the idea.

Bikes: custom Moyer track bike, '94 Bianchi track bike, 99ish Bianchi Reparto Corsa 9speed record/chorus, '81ish Koga Miyata FullPro, '84 trek 720 touring bike, mid-80s Montagner slowly being built w/period campy

in my experience eggbeaters will stay clipped in very very well as long as your cleats aren't worn down too much.

Bikes: I built the Bianchi track bike back up today.

I've done it w/ crank bros mallets, luckily only ever one foot at a time. It's pretty much the same clipping mechanism.

I just put on new cleats the other night, and that made a world of difference - now I'm back to sometimes having trouble clipping out. It took 3 stoplights to get the left one undone on the way to work last night...

i have, but i suspect it was due to worn cleats, as well. the brass wears so quickly; i don't know why they don't change metals. my shimano cleats still look (and work) the same as the day i put them on.

I suspect that the design of the pedal itself and the bear-trap mechanism of it, i.e. the thin cages/arcs would wear down real quick if the cleats were of the same metal - it's in their documentation too, at least they say that the pedal lasts longer because of the softer cleats.

Admittedly, I liked them when I had them, they felt buttery-smooth but I got hot spots on them (undoubtedly because my Gekos probably have a lot less stiffness since I walk in them everywhere and use them day to day as regular shoes too). I also had trouble unclipping in the 12 o'clock position causing me to turn the heel inward in that position instead as opposed to outward which is where I usually clip out and in an emergency situation I didn't want to have to think about what came natural to me.

My guess is you only clipped out of one? You can still provide some back pressure with one leg in- enough to bring your spin under control to be able to clip in again.

Not to hijack the thread but while we're on the topic of eggbeaters...

Which ones would be better for whipping up some good pie? Regular eggbeaters ($50 at Dan's Comp) or Candy ones ($70 at nashbar)?

So are SPD cleats compatible with eggbeaters?

Hmmm, the original ones seem to be more tongue-friendly, but with a name like Candy who can resist those? Decisions, decisions....

I haven't had any problems at all un-clipping accidentally with my eggbeaters. My cleats are definitely worn, but still have a fair amount of life left in them.

Bikes: Crust Romanceur, VO Polyvalent, Surly Steamroller, others?

Never accidentally unclipped either, brakeless. Not too much wear on them, but I'm not sure how I will be able to tell, other than my feet flying off the pedals at critical moments. I think when they get worn down enough I might try the old swapping-left-and-right-cleats-trick.

Should I be worried about wearing down my cleats by walking on them? They're not completely recessed.

Sucka Free - the cleats are SPD-shoe compatible, but as habitus stated, the cleats are different (in case that wasn't clear).
