Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

It seems a little bit early for that but lots of TT bikes have "track ends" and derailer hangers. A wheel butted right up against the seat tube is more aerodynamic, and the easiest way to do that is with "track ends".

Needs these wheels:

It's a shame AIDS claimed him a bit too early before I could've commissioned him to paint me wheels like that....

I love Keith Haring, if you ever get a chance go to the old men's bathroom at the NYC LGTBQ health center. So rad.

If carleton gets here, I wanna know why they use 650cc in the front. And how come TT bikes sometimes have 650 wheels.

Colin Laing built us a full custom tandem back in the early 1980s; georgeous lugwork and some then innovative touches
Put 56,000 happy miles on that bike!

No one else allowed to answer a pretty basic physics question?

How do you get pictures like that in your craigslist post? HTML? I hate how crappy CL makes my pictures.

650c is for getting the front end lower to position the rider in a more aerodynamic position. On a diamond frame bicycle, 80% of the wind resistance is from the rider, only 20% from the bicycle. That is the largest aerodynamic gains come from more efficient rider positioning.

It is this 80-20 rule which explains why recumbents can be heavier than a diamond frame bike, yet faster in cruising and downhills. The only time recumbents are slower are sudden bursts of acceleration and climbing - both of which are a function of power-to-weight ratios.
