Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? As long as you're still on the flats of the rails you're fine.

I have the same seat post. do you have any problems with the rear bolt getting loose after a few rides?

Oops, wrong thread. But I might as well ask here too.

Will a Sugino XD2 crankset be a notable upgrade over my current Sturmey Archer FCT-20? I can get a set with a 44t chainring and chainguard, and 42t spare ring for €50. It'll definitely look better on my bike, but I'm not sure if it will have any impact performance-wise?

And is a chainguard cool? Or will it impair my skidz and street-cred?

So I just sold my Masi Speciale for $450. Should I buy a Specialized Allez Road bike for $500 now that my conversion fell apart and I only have 1 bike? I'd be broke until my next paycheck, but I think this would be better suited for the Ride for Heart in June.

Completely depends on the year and groupset. If it's 2009+ with at least a Tiagra and or a little older with 105s or above, sure, assuming they're in good condition.

If it's recent, go ahead and get it. Not "E5" but doubt you'd notice the difference. IIRC the only difference between E5 and A1 tubing is like.. .4 lbs.

Should I get some H+son Archetype and Miche Primato high flange for my new wheels or is there another alternative out there? Only thing I require is a black rim and black hub.

Looking to be around the 300-350 mark minus wheelbuilding.

Or spend that money and do Reach the Beach on the 18th instead?

not really a should I, but does anyone know of a bar tape that matches brooks leather in brown? and does anyone have an opinion on matching non leather tape with a leather saddle?

Edit: SHOULD i put a pair of these (probably make my own instead of buy) on bullhorns to match my brooks?

I've heard of people matching the bar tape and seat, then finding out that the bar tape stains with sweat and dirt, and no longer matchy matchs the seat. Something to think about before dropping a dime on brooks tape.
