For what you are doing and the way you are setup, I'd recommend a dual sided pedal like the Shimano M324, which allows both clips/straps on one side and SPD clipless on the other. I have them on a commute bike, and they work great.

i ride one much like that on the nashhy and it's tasty.
|
So do you have to take off the clips and straps every time you want to ride clipless?

I had those on my wife's bike but she never made the jump to clipless and had a hard time flipping the pedal over to the walking shoe side. I tried them with my mtb. shoes and they worked fine.

Should I..Ruin the elegant simplicity of my rigid SS Mountain Bike by installing a suspension fork? I'm thinking a low-endish fork in the $200 range?

Do you actually ride it in the woods? If so, I say yes. If you're only riding it on the street, don't bother.

Should I get an all chrome tange fork?
and also, would a new color and decal replacement be worth my while? the brown is lovely, yet a little too subtle, I wanted something still subtle and sophisticated, with just a little more color. http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6188/6...a31850af_b.jpg Really leaning toward a burgundy/purple combo of sorts "Brickyard" http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4147/...5f97be07_b.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...Z/DSCN1393.jpg "Daytona Violet" http://www.xs4all.nl/%7Eankemike/mikesm3.jpg |
I have always been a fan of that burgundy on 1996 impala ss. classy.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi..._Impala_SS.jpg That picture doesnt do it justice though. |
J - Your bike is one of my favorite conversions I've seen on here. I wouldn't change a thing.
As for my "should I" question. I have a friend who bought a Zipp 1150 for really cheap from an ex-racer on craigslist. He has used it a little on his road bike but since it's tubular and he doesn't want to mess with it if he gets a flat, he doesn't use it much and is thinking about getting rid of it. If I can get the wheel and tire for less than $100, should I? It has fixed and free sides and the fixed hasn't been used. Worth it for a toy or something to use at the track this summer? looks liek dis http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4139/...139f076280.jpg |
Yes.
|
You will probably end up not using it much just like the guy before you. It may be fun for a short time
|
For under a hundred though, you might as well use it for the track.
Any good wheel under a hundred is a good buy I think. |
What track use? Is he going to start racing match sprints and time trials? Kinda ridiculous to go riding around with a disc as cat 5 or not even. But hey, I've seen more ridiculous things in the road racing 5/4s
|
I think if the disc is under a 100, ride it on the track. who cares what people think or say.
|
I recall showing on the track up as a rookie with disc wheels and all that nonsense being on carleton's "don't" list.

I'd buy it for wall art.
|
100bux is cheep for good art
|
If you buy that then perhaps you'll have enough dough to drop the price on your Spinergy?
|
Should I... trade a 120gb PS3 for someone's tubular HED disk? (To then sell for more than the PS3's worth? and/or ride it for a short time)
|
Yes.

As for track use, I would be pretty embarrassed to show up with that to a beginners class. @entrymax - If you're positive you can get your money back, go for it. Back up your game saves though. |

Kagero. Black components on top, silver on the bottom? I think it'd look better than silver wheelset with black sugino 75 cranks, but I'm afraid my bike will turn out like this.
|
Leave it to iMinusD.
This: Silver rims, silver spokes, black hubs, black nipples, silver crankset w/ black chainring, silver seatpost, silver stem, black bars (only because you're set on using Wing Pros). Done. |

Thanks! Now, Should I be crazy and just order everything in one go and go homeless? |
