Frame buying help - 56 or 59 Steamroller?

Greetings all. I'm a traditional geared rider looking to get my first fixie/SS, and was hoping someone could help point me in the right direction for selecting a frame size. I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Surly Steamroller, but can't decide between the 56 and the 59. I'm about 5'11.5" with a 34" inseam.

I test rode a 56 at the LBS, my reach to the bars was fine but had to jack the seat pretty high up so as to not feel like my pedal stroke was cramped. It didn't feel quite right. So I'm leaning towards the 59, anyone think it would be too big? Not sure which frame measurements would help me the most in making a decision, but here are some of the specs for the two frames:

56: 80.8cm standover height, 56.8cm TT length, 56cm ST length
59: 83.5cm standover height, 58.7cm TT length, 59cm ST length

Appreciate any advice!

Sounds like you might want the 59. Just get which ever you think is more comfortable. Some people like bigger frames, some people like smaller.

I would say you're better off with the shorter top tube of 56cm but you could read this article and decided for yourself.
