Honey colored Brooks saddle

I'm wondering how long it takes for the honey colored Brooks to darken. I would really like to have an Antique brown B17, but I haven't seen one anywhere. I don't even know if they are made. I saw pictures of a honey saddle that was quite a bit darker when used for while. Can anybody tell me about how long it takes? Thanks

I believe the new 2004 brooks (straight from the factory) are a 'pre-aged' darker brown. Softer too! Its probably hard to find them on ebay because they are quite new.

Also any treatment you apply to the leather will darken it slightly (or alot, depending on what you use).

Mine darkened considerably after a few hundred miles...I'm sure my riding sweat and Proofide hastened that process a good bit. It's still not as dark as the antique brown, but it's not far off in most places.

God, how I hate that! These new jeans are looking way worse than my oldest pair. Where is the fun when you can't brake it yourself? Just wait - a couple of years from now we'll have pre-chiped and factory scratched frames. So the girly-man SUV weekend warrior's bike can look tough on the roofrack.

For Brooks saddles, go to www.permaco.com. their prizes are great!

No idea on the time to darken, although my wife's honey Countess is quite a bit darker after Proofide treatment and a few rides. Persons-Majestic does have a B17 Champion Special (ti rails) in Antique Brown. I picked up a Team Pro from them in Antique Brown and like it.

Sounds like a great deal, huh?
HaHA yea thats the first thing that went through my head too. They make an SRV issue and a Jaco Pastorius Bass. Now I guess if your one of those types that ripps off SRV note for note you can at least look like him too.

yeah those suck! Some even come with a built in hole.

Very oldfashioned myself. If I buy something new it should look and feel new.

Can't wait for that fad to end!

The Jaco Bass is ridiculous. Like how they have holes drilled in it to mimic "a previous setup" or however they phrase it. Can I chip the paint and drill the holes myself, and pay only $1000 instead of $3000?

That's awesome! I suppose a dark shoe polish might work, too. Any trouble with the color rubbing off on your clothes?

Wow. That's convincing. Of course I would just take the honey gold color as an invitation to log a few more miles.

Hair dye?! I never would have thought of that. The before picture is actually a little darker than I thought it would be. thanks a lot. By the way, Sweeeeeeeeeet Lookin Bike!
