it's just much easier to skid with bullhorns as opposed to drops....

As random as it sounds, I just need some confirmation.

I made this realization as I was messing around with my wife on our excursion today. This ride happened to be my first ride with rb-002's.
And yes, she wanted me to show her how to skid.

Yes. When you lean onto the horns, the length of the bar acts like a lever arm to help shift more weight forward and unweight the rear wheel.

That was one of the first things i realized when I used bullhorns. I think it puts you a little farther forward and gets some weight off the rear wheel.

Not to mention you don't have to worry about hitting your knee/thigh on the drop...

I voted no, but that's because I think it's easier to skid with drops/hoods vs bullhorns. However, bullhorns vs drops alone, bullhorns are much easier.

But really, skidding is pretty pointless, so I never really do it anyways.

Alas, that explains it and as for the rb-002's I was always on the ends.
Nonetheless, I have not done nuts to stem distance skids in a long time; I usually do seated and hop skids to save tire. But today was an exception.

I usually do short whips and skips when brakeless, and I feel dumb when I do nuts-to-the-bar. I realized it when I was teaching my girlfriend how to skid.

I'm young and I like dumb sh*t though, like skidding with your legs in different places on the bike. It's not serious, it's not really that cool, but it is fun. And fun is a point in itself.

Now that I'm using drops instead of my rb-21's I just tap my front brake to shift my weight forward and initiate a skid. It's just enough to break the static friction on the rear tire and my legs are strong enough to fight the kinetic friction after I've released the brake. Only in fg do we use a front brake to skid the rear wheel

Haha, I'm sorry but you must get some hate for that.

My instinct is to say that that is just silly. If I want to slow down, I'll use the brake. If I want to slow down and don't have a brake, I'll backpedal, and if I have to, lock em up and skid. I think people already hate enough for those who have a front brake and don't use it, I'm sure they've got a mouthful of words for someone who uses it to skid.

Yeah, I didn't mention I'm running the el-cheapo stock tektro pads while my kool-stops are on order so I can brake faster with front+skid right now.

Did you fix your order from canti pads to road?

Couldn't fix the order. It's been 10 days since I ordered them and I still haven't heard boo from my LBS so I hope they got lost in translation. Haven't payed for them yet at least so I'll probably just order the right ones online and see which gets here first.

Ditch them. Don't feel bad either, I'm pretty sure canti pads sell much faster than road pads because canti pads wear down faster.

am I the only one who finds burger bars too soft? I swear everytime I go to skid with them I sink into them and make a mess.

flat bars and risers are pretty easy to skid with, especially wide ones with good grip

If you stay on top of back-pedaling down hill, then yes it is pointless. Sometimes when I zone out and let the pedals get away from me, it's easiest to skid if you need to kill a lot of speed quickly.
