Foot Straps vs Toe Clips
i have a pair of decent toe clips and they've been working pretty well, but i have been seeing alot of people with foot straps such as these https://sgvbicycles.com/Toe_Straps/Bl...ootstraps.HTML
can anyone please tell me why they're so special

Mix of preference and convenience. Some shoes just don't fit well in clips (see: anything with a wide forefoot/toebox), and apparently some clips can scuff up certain types of shoes. I've heard straps are far more "set and forget" also.

I.M.H.O. I prefer the look of clips/straps on older lugged/vintage/steel frames
If I had a newer Track frame and wasn't riding on the Drome I would like the velcro straps/platform/bmx pedals. Thats just me! Read my sig!!!!

What's the best clipless strap and clip to put on a MKS GR-9 pedal? And what's the best strap to put on a GR-9? I think i'd like to try both and see what I like better....
If the strap isn't the best idea for a GR-9 then please recommend a good pedal+strap setup.

MKS cages and some random leather straps will be fine...

I feel more secure with my foot straps. Clips felt kinda flimsy and didn't really keep my foot secure, especially during a lot of skids. Plus I love the wider platform pedal. But IMO, clips and straps look MUCH classier. Foot straps are kinda ugly, especially on any kind of vintage frame.

I heard heard GR-9 + Soma Double strap clip + Wabi laminated leather straps is the best combo for the dollar based on the research of former threads....
Not sure what strap to get though. It would be nice if I could find a strap that would fit the GS-9

My bikes have traps or straps. The straps are a tad more comfortable, and stronger. Straps feel better when accelerating out of the saddle. I've used power grips for many years, I guess I like how strong and thin the resin straps are. The power grips install on an angle, and this is a fairly big deal for me; you can micro adjust while riding with just a small movement of your foot position. I've installed them on vintage pedals too. So...they have never been cool but they work.

Also does anyone know of anyone who makes a double strap compatiable clip that is BLACK colored? Similar to the All City 4x or soma XX?

i go back and forth btwn the two on my bikes, and they both have their strengths and weaknesses. the platform pedals w/ straps are heavy and super wide. get a little hairy and breath-holding on the turns. however, they're suuuuuuper comfy and makes skidding and backpedaling a lot easier and more secure
clips and straps will mold to the one shoe that you're wearing, but i find that they hurt my toes after a while (size 13) and are a bit hard to adjust on the fly due to unthreading them out of the metal clips.
but like i said, i go back and forth and find that i just love riding a bike......

Do you need a Double clip to match a double strap or can you use a single loop clip wiht a double strap? If you use a single loop clip (designed for 1 strap with 2 holes) which strap goes through the loop? Is it better to make it so the free strap is over the metal part of the clip or floating in free air....
