Bikes: too many of all kinds

Rhymes with Hipster.

Dan Langley + Hipster = Langster.

WTH is a "langster"? They have cool-ish names for the other bikes like: Venge, Shiv, Tarmac, RockHopper, HardRock, Dolce, Epic, Allez, Roubaix, etc...then Langster.

I think carleton is referring to the actual seat rail clamp, not the part on the frame. Most frames I've seen have one bolt seat post clamps.

oh yeah. had I bothered to look closely at the picture that would've made sense, I was wondering how saddle angle was playing a role in the post

The normal single bolt seat clamp with the bolt underneath the clamp is far more secure than the one used on the new Langster. The one on the Langster is akin to the really cheap posts with a separate clamp that squeezes the seat rails from the side and makes it difficult to obtain a precise seat angle. Anyway, I don't like having to use a specific seat post, and prefer a standard round post which allows me to make changes.

I agree with this. As cool as aero integrated posts look, the proprietary design is so limiting. This is especially compounded with the FTP, where you can't even make vertical adjustments because of a poor design.

I wasn't the only one who had that problem.

Also, I don't think anyone has solved the carbon seat post slipping problem 100%. Google: Aero Seatpost Slipping, and you will see what I mean.
Specialized's single bolt seat clamp is bombproof. I snapped the post before the snapping the clamp or having the seat slip. Plus, doesn't use pre-set indexed teeth like a lot of cheaper single bolt systems (my ftp thats just a touch nose up, grrr), so you literally have an infinite amount of seat angles to choose from, perfect for the competitive cyclist that has to have everything perfect. This is, as long as they kept the same system as their previous posts and didn't come up with something completely new...

I'm not saying that everyone will have problems with it. But, some will.

What sucks is, like TT pointed out, they have eliminated the option for consumers to choose their own seatpost.

That's actually not a bad idea. I'm not sure how it would work in practice but if I owned a FTP and were selling it I would buy one.

same clamp as the '07 s-works, and the e5 allezes, good system, doesn't slip nearly as bad as you'd expect, does dent seatposts pretty easilly.
