I fail to see where the OP states he rides brakeless.

Why would he try to put his feet back on in the middle of a hill bomb without first slowing down with his brake so he could do it without launching himself off the bike?

I'd rather jack my face then my feet.

Now, now, don't say that now as you might not be able to post back after. Stay safe.

This is the only forum where members actually try to hurt themselves.

evilcryalotmore 08-13-11 11:56 PM

I think there is a body modification forums out there. IE tatoos piercings, that reminds me, isn't there a tatoo/pierecing thread?

hamfoh 08-13-11 11:57 PM

I thought you had to be tattooed or pierced to ride fixed?

evilcryalotmore 08-14-11 12:03 AM

hamfoh 08-14-11 12:16 AM

sub forum for the less hardcore. being able to see your arms is like running a brake!

patthepunk 08-14-11 03:32 AM

I honestly dont know what I was thinking. I had a front brake, and was using it. (sorry I left these details out, meds are making me very spacey today). I dont know what happened fully because I do not remember. I'm going to ask a friend of mine who was riding with me. Ill update soon. As of now though, all that I am dealing with is some neck pain, and lack of being able to stay asleep.

You did some pretty stupid ****ing **** and payed for it. Lucky you're not ****ing dead.

I mean, did you really think it would be a good idea to take a fixed gear bike, bomb down a hill with no brakes, and in addition take your feet off the pedals, your only means of stopping? Helmet or not, that sounds pretty damn stupid to me.

Fun, motherfuc*er, do you have it?

Hopefully, he'll only need to wear it until the radiologist reads his cervical spine Xray and finds no fracture.

jdgesus 08-14-11 04:02 PM

which IME takes ALOT OF FRIGGIN TIME.
c-spine OK or not.. THOSE NECK BRACES SUK

those giant cutting boards they keep you on for a long time too, also suck

patthepunk 08-14-11 04:29 PM

Moral of the story: I'm buying a helmet for when I ride from now on. lol

hairnet 08-14-11 05:43 PM

Well, it should be more than just the helmet because the helmet can't protect you from a lot. Hell, when I was hit by a car I received a concussion and lacerations, because the helmet shattered, while the rest of my body was just bruised and scraped.

Yeah. I was stupid to not have been wearing a helmet. I havent worn one since I was at least ten ( they dont look cool, duh!). Time to grow up, and just wear one. Sitting in a wheel chair doesn't look cool either, but Id rather look dumb in a helmet.

Scrodzilla 08-14-11 06:30 PM

hairnet - your helmet may have shattered but think about what would have happened if it wasn't there to take the brunt of the impact.

I've thought about that, but at the same time I don't feel that my helmet was meant for a high speed impact. I have had the low speed impact of just falling over and was happy to have the helmet. I broke no bones even though the bruises and bike show a direct impact from behind followed by sliding/dragging. I don't know where I am going with this. Anyway, I have had very few high speed incidents and many low speed ones. I hate helmet debates. I'll just keep wearing mine because I think it looks better than other ones. SAFETY THIRD

I love the A&S forum
