Shoes for bmx pedals and straps
Spent 20 minutes searching through this forum without finding anything. Plenty of info about other types of shoes, but not much on this.
I've been riding on bmx pedals with holdfast while wearing seven dollar walmart slip-on shoes. Surprisingly, they've somewhat held up, but it's time to get something much better. I want something I can also wear around normally, as well.
Unfortunately, I'm limited to selecting from a few brands as I have money to spend on piperlime. The only shoes they have that seem like they would work are from adidas, onitsuka, and puma. Heck, diesel even has some that could work.
Does anyone have any experience with riding in any shoes from those companies? And for the sake of others, do you have any other shoes that have worked well for riding in straps?

Keen shoes actually makes shoes for biking, and is a big hit with the C&V and Commuter crowd. Unfortunately the Coronado is low on sizes (but on sale!). Otherwise I'm pretty sure you just don't want something puffy or mostly made of mesh. I can't imagine anything else being a problem unless you're worried about sole flex.
FWIW I ride in Adidas Sambas all the time with toe clips.

I know a lot of people who swear by Adidas and Vans. Try out those and see how it works for you. I don't recommend tennis or "trail" shoes because it is hard to get your foot in and out because of the laces and sole.
Nice 'stache BTW.

What the hell? They're platform pedals with straps. Wear whatever you plan to wear that day. Why would you even need "special" shoes for BMX pedals and straps?
This has to be a troll.

I don't think he's a troll but it's a simple question with a simple answer. If he is a troll then let us leave him be.

I started out with these, but felt they didn't really provide the support I needed.

Thankfully, a friend turned me onto these:

I've been extremely happy with them. Perfect for BMX style pedals.

Well, at least he didn't ask Carleton. BFSSFG is now a personal shopping service for shoes. That said, piperlime carries Chuck Taylor lo-tops. Does anybody have any recommendation for a dishwasher?

Sambas ftw - they're leather, relatively stiff, cheap, plentiful, stylish, and not super bulky.
But seriously, the idea of foot straps as opposed to toe clips and clipless is that you can where pretty much anything (or nothing) and have it work just fine, they are easy to adjust on the go anyway.
Cheers
