Best grips for track bars?

Let's hear your opinion!

patthepunk 08-19-11 05:13 PM

no grips. Gloves.

Scrodzilla 08-19-11 05:14 PM

Don't listen to Pat. He likes to fall off his bike at maximum speed.

I heard track grips go nice on track bars

/has never rode on a track

Leukybear 08-19-11 09:08 PM

Yoshida champ grips are what I have on my b123AA's at the moment. I also use strong V grips. These are my favorites.

Do avoid soyo grips without gloves; they leave nasty blisters. And oury's are a joke.

carleton 08-19-11 09:55 PM

Go with grip tape. You'll have A LOT more options.

you also weren't hurt very badly, luckily, but posting a bloody neck brace photo from before they wiped you down really made it look gnarly

This. Unless you're riding on the track, track drops aren't very functional.

I'm reminded of this every time I want my bike to look pretty and put on drops

Kayce 08-20-11 09:43 AM

Road drops and good bar tape. I am a fan of the Fizik tape and gloves, or the specialized roubaix tape and no gloves

Scrodzilla 08-20-11 09:52 AM

Compact drops and good bar tape.

lverhagen 08-20-11 10:04 AM

Newbaum's

Scrodzilla 08-20-11 10:07 AM

Cotton bar tape is the least comfortable tape I've ever put my hands on.

It looks cool but I dont understand why somebody would put cotton tape on their handlebars, its almost the same as tape-less, no?

It's grippy but harsh. Also, sweat quickly causes it to become disgusting.

homebrewk 08-20-11 10:50 AM

Just get LizardSkins and be done with it. :D

fixedgear80 08-20-11 11:37 AM

Just went from Oury's with riser to compact SR road bars with suede bar tape. Just picked up some NEW orange cork bar tape from the co-op for 5 bucks! Wow I can say that the new bars are awesome but take some getting used to/adj, its a good thing i keep my tools on me! I do say my abs are getting a workout now! Good luck.

Digging these. I don't really like the feeling of bar tape, just a personal thing. I am getting the Eighth Inch bars, very shallow. I've heard good things.
