I guess when you put it that way it's true. Still, ruins my hopes. I might as well get a Cinelli Mash--at least it's a Cinelli.

I'm not shocked. Even if you're a die hard Leader hater, the Kagero is a high quality, very limited edition frameset - and even with the high PC tax, it's still less costly than a MASH Histogram.

I don't know much about the quality of the frame, I'll take your word for it. However, it doesn't really bring anything new to the table. The geometry is BARELY considered pursuit, the tubing is mundane, and the paint job is stale. I think all it had going for it was that it was a Leader, so people thought it was going to be affordable.

My sentiments exactly. I would gladly pay an extra $100 for a high quality frameset with more aggressive lines and more brand history/prestige. I mean, if you're already sinking 800 into a leader, why not throw a little more and get a Cinelli.

How many people have raced a pursuit, and know what kind of geometry they would like for their frame for that race? A forward sloping top tube has nothing to do with a bike being a pursuit bike. My Nishiki Linear has one of the steepest foward sloping top tubes of any bikes produced, but it certainly inst a pursuit racer.

I feel Leader has come a long way in the past couple of years and are doing a really good job of breaking out of the category a lot of people inadvertently place them into because of past errors and are a lot more focused as a company. Hell, look at how many people are having issues with their Fuji Track Pros due to wonky chainstays- will there be a huge backlash against Fuji like there was with Leader?

While they may have made some weird **** in the past, the 2011 frames and now the Kagero are a true testament to their current direction.

It seemed to me that Leader was treating customers who complained as the enemy and seemingly spent most of their time on forums defending their later admitted bad work instead of listening to potential customers needs/they were basically the anti-bikesdirect, both offering cheap products but one company was clearly listening while the other wasn't.. Thank goodness for tricktrack(and possibly a change of management at Leader) but they finally seemed to actually listen to what the customer wanted instead of spending so much time defending itself. It should really thank those guys at tricktrack that helped to rebuild its image plus it doesn't hurt to put as much money into advertising as they do now. Leader is everywhere in Japan, it's kind of strange too. Aesthetically I think they have a ways to go for most of their frames but their steel frames for what they are are nice. Personally I think the 725 and 735 are better than what they have done in the past but I can't stand the huge clearance between the downtube and tire, that gap screams no toe overlap, with a bike with pretty steep geometry. And it helps that the shills are more respected on the forum now than before. They've made a lot of great moves, I have to tip my cap. Still not my cup of tea, but I have liked the moves the new Leader has made. And the Kagero is nice too. I just wish they understood that they could make the same bike with the same geometry with cheap aluminum tubes even with an aluminum fork at a lower price and people would eat them up faster than kilos, as long as the look is right. Kilo TT success was always price and geometry. Leader has it right on the money with the Kagero design but the limited edition and price show that they are still not there yet.

yeah. i mean... the ftp is a total **** up on fuji's part. they messed up those chainstays bad... and they had a terrible seatmast clamp design that at very least should be adjustable an inch for changing saddles. but they marked it down 80% and moved it through their clearance channels. Leader didn't do that with the v2 EVER and they only opened coghouse for their blemish models what, last year?

this really shouldn't turn into a leader hate thread... because there's a lot to love with the 722ts and some of their newer models. but it also shouldn't be a "look at fuji track pros, everyone makes mistakes" when that's not at ALL what most people had a problem with leader about. it was their approach to marketing and customer relations that people complained about, and honestly i don't care how many talented fgfs kids they get to wear their hats and make sweet vimeo vids... that's still a lot of money for a leader. I was expecting 500 without a fork, and ain't no reason an alpina fork should cost 300 when bundled with a frame from a manufacturer. that's what buying power is about. that fork should tack on 150-200 to the cost of the frameset max, which leaves us with a 600 dollar limited edition leader.

and i'd rather ride a 500 dollar pake...

these aren't marvels of engineering. i'll reserve true judgment until i ride a kagero and a cannondale track and a mash histogram all back to back, but to me there's just no way it's worth that much when the FTP can be had basically complete for that price.

Eight hundred does seem high. Though, the progression of the company is very apparent. Worked a lot of the kinks out, through a lot of rough spots.

Now slated for the next, limited production line. Basically marketing hype to artificially the MSRP, placing it in the same category of the other frames in the category. Even though, there coming off the same line in Taiwan.

Meh, rather a second-hand TK2 complete.
