I need Help on getting new Crankset..

Greetings,

I've been running on the sram omnium and i love it. However, I'm going to built up a new frame but my omnium seems like doesn't fit in it. Any recommendation on what should I get and why(i mean the cons and pros of the recommended crank)? (p.s. not too pricey please..) as I got my omnium for like 200 bucks.. so i'm expecting something at this price range and similar quality and performance. thanks.

If you like the outboard bb, the s300's don't really seem like a huge step down to me and they generally fit a lot better than the omniums. I like how they look better too but they are not as stiff.

This on all counts. Some people think they're ugly and are put off by them being 130bdd but the S300 is probably the best deal out there as far as external bearing cranksets go.

Or you could always just spring for Sugino 75s and be done with it.

Miche are overrated IMO and their bottom brackets are crap.

I went with S300's because I wanted external bearing BB, and I am more than happy with them. The only downside to them is the resale when compared to Om-Nom-Noms. Tho I haven't really had much experience with other setups, I just like the engineering standpoint of an external vs spindle.

I bought my s300 for $100 w/ shipping and just sold them for $70 w/o shipping.

Cool guys for the info!! I did considered about s300 before I get my omnium.. And I like the way it looks better than omnium too.. But one of my buddy told me that it is always better to get good crank (when u afford to) so that you won't end up with spending more money when you messed up with lower quality crank.. Btw.. I heard a lot about miche from my lbs. But why?? Is it stiff or fast or...??? In case getting a miche.. What bb should I match with it since it had been said that it is crap..

It has been hit and miss for me and my Miche BB. It has come loose on me once. That was bad. I tightened it down alot and have been riding on it for about a year without another problem.

But overall, I would agree that the Miche BB is junk. There are plenty of BB's out there that won't cause you any problems
