Little change of pace tonight...Just opened a bottle of Cupcake cabernet...MMMM! nice bone in ribe eye and grilled asparagus ...

blondieyo 09-07-13 07:48 PM

Well not right now because it's 11am but the other night I found my new favourite simple drink at a bar; Sailor Jerry, dry and lime. Ended up having a few too many but I don't even care. They're that delicious.

Just say no to Cupcake, you can find much better wine for the same price.

For $5 bottles of wine, nothing beats Blackstone Merlot.

Mumonkan 09-07-13 11:57 PM

First time trying it...Not too bad...I am not much for Merlot in General...I like Bordeaux's and Cab's...I like to try different ones...I had been drinking local wines mostly but trIED THE Cupcake...I found out it was a wine from Chile so wanted to give it a shot, i like it.

SpeshulEd 09-08-13 08:22 AM

It's alright, but don't get stuck on it, there's so many more in that price point that are better.

I think my disdain for cupcake is because someone came to our party and brought a bottle of Cupcake - Red Velvet - it was supposed to taste like red velvet cake, it was awful. I hate wasting alcohol but that bottle went down the sink. At that point, I said never again.

I stopped doing this with wine after the first time I poured myself a glass of red vinegar.

I've dumped two bottles of wine, that was one and the other was horrible michigan wine my sister bought me that tasted like church wine. So gross!

iTripped 09-08-13 02:35 PM

Last night a buddy turned 40 and I got into the bourbon. The bartender had some rosemary infused bourbon and was making his take of old fashioned drinks with it. He was calling them 'the end fashioned'. Horrible name, not a bad drink. Rounded out the night with far too much wine, kind of surprised I woke up without a hangover. Calling it a 'win.'

Notgrownup 09-08-13 05:41 PM

The only Wines i buy over and over are Mouton Cadet and Louis Jadot.
