Hey scrod, just finished building my cinelli Mash...I chose every part well but the tires...I purchased and put Michelin Lithion 2's on my h plus son rims....Didn't realize they only have a max PSI of 102 until after installing and pumping them up. I'm running brakeless, should I immediately swap them out for something more reliable? Do you know anything about running this type of tire on a fixed gear? Appreciate the advice/criticism.

Ugh...I hate those tires! I've found that you rally can't go wrong with a Vittoria Rubino in the front and a Rando in back.

If you plan on doing any skidding at all, go for a 28c Rando and ignore the recommended 85 psi. I keep mine inflated to 115 and it's awesome.

I knew they sucked! It was my first ride, and I really disliked them and didn't trust them. Thanks for the advice, I'll take a look around and swap them out asap.

Edit: Just bought a pair of Rubino Pro's .
Hopefully I can return the michelins...even though I bought them from the UK lol!

Hey Scrod,

Would a brake lever with a 23.8 band fit on the Cinelli Peppers?

Those bars are 22.2mm up near the grip area so you'll need to shim it like you would on any other risers (except Nitto, which are 24mm).

If you want us to install your grips, just attach a note with the payment or e-mail us after submitting your order.

Just curious on why you like just 1 rando in the back, and a different tire up front? I need new tires for the Surly and was thinking about just doing a 25 rando up front and in 28 back. Are rando's really sluggish to run 2 or something?

Yup.

Randos are great for both comfort and skidding but I prefer a tire that's a little more racy in the front because they handle much better.

Scrod, thanks again for the tire advice. Pumped to throw them on the Cinelli. I have one more question for you that I couldn't find an answer to. The matte paint on the cinelli mash histogram (the black 2012) is veryyyy prone to scratches. I was taking a picture and a gust of wind moved the bike ever so slightly into the wall and the top tube got a very small scratch. It honestly barely touched, and sure enough, a hairline scratch was there. I'll be extremely careful, but sometimes you just wanna ride and not worry about the paint.

A- Is there any good touch up paint you would recommend?
B- Is there any product out there that I can buy and coat the frame with that acts like a varnish to help protect it?

Assuming you bought it to ride and not just take pictures of, get over it.

Pretty soon it will be so covered with nicks and dings that you won't even notice the first one.

Thank's for the advice on tires. But yeah to the dude with scratches, bikes honestly look better a little banged up. I like my well ridden dirty bike.

Too many variables. I'm leaning toward being the attacker.

Some people on this forum can't seem to figure out how to use the Twofish Quick Cage adapter but I use one and it does exactly what it's supposed to do.

How often do you recommend changing rim tape?

Why would you ever need to change it? Rim tape doesn't wear out.

Scrod:

What are the differences between Leader 722ts and Lo, as you see them? All the website says is that the Lo is more "aggressive." I'm sized up w/ the 58 for both of them apparently.

P.S. how much longer is that Lo complete sale lasting?

The Lo has a forward-sloping top tube, shorter head tube and tighter rear triangle. Also, the original 722TS hasn't been in production for over two years.

The sale on completes is running until they are all gone (we have one left).

The tape that came stock on my Wabi wheelset (over 2 years ago) was cracking around the eyelets and it punctured my tube in the same spot a few times. No other debris or burrs on the tire, tube or rim.
