Higher-End Complete Bikes

I had a pretty bad wreck last Saturday and wound up in the Hospital for 3 days. The problem is that my bike disappeared while I was unconscious/ or on my way to the ER. My LBS wrote up an estimate and my renters insurance is covering it.

I can't decide if I want to build up a similar bike or just buy a complete one.
My bike-

I have around 2000 dollars to spend and the first bikes that come to mind are:
1. Wabi Lightning
2. Fuji Track pro (LBS)

What are some other options?

Felts are too flashy for my tastes..
Wabi's are beautiful and affordable.
What are the differences between the clearance 2010 model and the new 2011?

I think the super pista (2012) may be coming as a complete this year?

if I had 2000 I would build up for sure. give myself $1000 for a frameset, $600 for wheels and $400 for the rest (or something like that)

Guess who recently hooked up with a distributor that stocks Argon 18 bikes?

Bikes: fixed gear recumbent trike

i love my wabi, but it rides like a fixed gear road bike, not like a twitchy/responsive track bike.

yay canadian content.

serious tho they come from montreal every year to toronto for the bike show and consistently have the best booth. all products on display, answer any questions and will just chat with you. they even make sure all the shops that carry their bikes have all the models available for test ride and will even walk with you from the booth to the marketplace side to check out the bike. killer company with great product.

$2000 is a budget with literally a TON of wiggle room; you might as well piece together a bike in absolutely the way you want it; perfect it for yourself!
Why even bother with what manufacturers want you to be using on their bike? It's your money, your rules. Do it right, the way you want it exactly, the first time around

Bikes: 34 frames + 80 wheels

Another +10 for the Wabi Lightning. Got mine 3 months ago, and it's my total fav now. You can completely customize it for gearing, bar, stem, saddle, cranks and it's super light. The only thing I changed were the tires with Conti GP4000s. Total cost with pedals and new tires was $1100 shipped. The bike rides like a dream, but is still plenty stiff. The bike was so well built, that it was ready to roll 15 minutes after I unpacked it.

THIS

Any decent geared bike + a kilo seems like a better use of 2k than one fixed gear.

I see from your other posts that you rode your bike a lot. I'm also assuming that you only need one bike then, instead of 2, considering you use your car to go to places you can't visit on your bike. IMO, build up your bike the way you want to like leukybear said. With 2k, might as well do it right the first time, right? I love leaders and bianchi pistas but that's just me.

I would have to agree, unless he only wants FG or SS. In my situation I'd disperse it into two bikes. One nice build-up and another cheaper beater.

I can deal with having to see Adriano's geared bike in 5 different threads, but now s/he's suggesting other people buy them when asking for fixed recommendations. I have no problem with gears, but seriously, wrong sub forum. Dude wants to spend $2k on a track bike and you say kilo tt... 9_9

nothing wrong with a kilo, get a raw one for your beater... if you want a beater, but that still leaves you $1600 for the ss/fg bike you want, which is what you asked for

+1 to leukys post
