Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Anything comparable to Hold Fast Straps?

I like that they are easily adjustable on the go because I wear a lot of different sized shoes, but I feel like metal clips w/ leather straps have a better grip. Being able to get out quickly is somewhat important, but not necessary.

Btw, I ride a geared bike, but I figured this would be the best place to ask about straps.

clips perform better, but theres dozens of folks with sewing machines making hold fast variants.

How long have you been using them adriano?

The webbing on my ripped due to constantly rubbing the crank arm. It looks like they have a similar design as the retrogression straps. Does the webbing on the inside of the strap not rub on the crank arm?

Bikes: good ones.

+1

I love mine. Haven't had them too long, but there has not been any problems at all.

Just got a set of "Catalina straps" from a current member.
Had to trim them a bit to actually make them snug on my shoes! Great fit, although I'm still saving up for a set of YNOT's pedal straps! Cant wait till we find a nice Industrial Sewing machine!

check out burro bags. aside from lots of bags, pouches, etc they make some pretty good straps but they mostly come in nutty colors. I've got a black pair with a laminate covering that i've been riding through almost 2 upstate ny winters

These appear to only be made for platform style pedals, correct?

I'm using ''track'' pedals right now w/ the retrogression straps, and like them a lot. Haven't had enough time to see how well they hold up. They do seem to be well made. I'm contemplating getting a second set, but am looking at other options as well. The ynot's look tough too.

RE-Load Lockdown straps are good. I used to use a pair, but I've been riding clipless exclusively for a while. My brother used to use them too, but he went down on a slick road a few months back and couldn't get his feet out of the straps. His ankle got jerked around and mangled, tore ligaments etc., and had to stay off the bike for a while. So yeah, they'll hold your feet in.
