chicago DCC celebratory "ride"

I put the ride in quotes because I don't care how much we ride, as long as I get inebriated in the process.

So I'm not big into holidays, if you are that's fine, but I'm not celebrating anything this december ... except ...

1. the hell that has been my life for the past 2.5 months is almost over
2. my BF has finally seen the bike light (and fixed at that) -- will be two-wheeled in about a week
3. 165 had a b-day as will I this saturday
4. I can ride again as much as I want, at least until january

I'm sure you all have something you could celebrate by raising a glass with me. ryan, you must be finishing up soon too.

so I just want to get the chicago gears turning ... plant the seed of a ride in your heads. preferably at night but the day is okay too (even sunday morning), I will still get wildly drunk. Even if I must utilize my bag for such things.

cheers
Val

it would be interesting to have a mobile bar on a bike. the original handle bar. hmm...

some guys last year had a blender rigged so it would blend as you pedaled.

Let's do it - Gretchen is being rebuilt as we speak (I need to return the 105 front brake I just bought - it's actually a rear) but I'm good to go.

However, not this weekend - I'm recording in the studio from the 3rd to 8th. Anytime after that, I'm on. Anytime.

You read my mind. My last final is Friday the 10th, and you best believe I'm gonna be doing some serious unwinding when thats over. If a ride or something is going on this weekend, I will still be up for it though, just because I love riding with people, but saturday I'm working until 4pm.
Is this gonna be like, ride to the bar, or drinkin' and ridin'? I have no problem with having a couple bottles of something in my bag, I prefer to drink for less money anyway.
I hope this post made sense, I just woke up from a nap and am on autopilot.

I'd definitely be down for a Chicago ride next weekend... and getting sloppy drunk Saturday night could flow nicely into the Prelude 2 Prologue on Sunday (I assume the Tour starts Sunday... saw it on a website somewhere).

Oh, and I'm Kevan by the way... FugaziDave's tall friend that rode the huge blue bike during the last DCC ride. Hi :-)

There is such a thing!!!
In Amsterdam, you (and 5 of your buddies) can rent a Bar-bike. Essentially, its 6 guys pedaling while seated in 2 rows (oriented along the length of the bike) facing each other, with a platform between them with a tap of Heinekin and a bartender. The entire rig is steered by another person.
That's what i recall. I regret that i never got the chance to experience it myself.

Dave-
Me and Jamesons just had a slugfest in your honor. So far, I am winning.
Keevohn -
join the fray.

(obstacle 1)so this is going to take place when I am in Seattle, riding a HOT PINK fixed gear around. I love timing.
meow...
(obstacle 2)sheeit, i'll send up a flare when I get back. while some rides may need planning, drinking rarely does. Honest drinking at that.
Val, Ryan, Keevohn, SBV, FD, and all other pushers - we shall see one another soon, through the bottoms of empty pint glasses.

I want to be there, too. Yet I will have a hard time doing before Christmas. Can it wait until then?

Why not just have multiple rides? I am up for riding and then more riding.

Here, do you search the forum for the word "drinking" so you know where to post?

I think the prelude is not a race, just a get to know you kind of thing. I may be wrong.

I am up for multiple rides so I can see all at least once.

and absntr ... it's good to hear gretchen is in recovery. I saw you pre-incident a few weeks ago crossing the damen bridge.

No, I had a chip implanted in my brain that reads me every post anyone makes through a wireless connection.

It gets noisy sometimes.

You Chicago folk really ought to start a weekly or monthly ride the likes of which the Minneapolites speak. 2 Tires, fire and liquor on a regular basis can't be a bad thing.

Perhaps it's trying to only get fixed riders that creates the curse? We've had pretty much every type of bike besides a recumbent and a pennyfarthing on Sat rides here.

I wish our CM was more like Chicago's... Someday I will have to ride over and see it. But I ain't stuffin no damn envelopes or whatever it was that Tim had to do when he rode over for it....

Not that that's a bad thing - but I suppose in this weird way, we're all friends. We have common interests and get along no matter the age, the occupation, the gender. That's a remarkable thing to find in a group of less than 15 - to get along that well at least. While I'd love to see the group grow and organize and do bigger things, at this moment, it's nice to have a few people to ride around with, drink with, eat with and talk with.

For some reason, we've all gotten along very well. The dynamic and tightness needs to be improved some more as we hang out more often and for now, that'll do.
