I've been riding for some time now and I ust can't seem to find the right bag. My backpack freaks me out b/c it has that tendency tp want to go over your head and my messanger bag always slips around. Is there a bag made for bicycling? i.e. does not slip at all when pedeling?

Get a bag with a stabilizer strap. Bailey's come with this, Pac goes overboard on it. I'm sure there are others that have them.

a lot of companies make bags with stabilizer straps that act to keep the bag from slipping while riding...i really like my chrome bag, it has a strap, though i rarely have to use it, even when i have a big package at work...others that i know of are: PAC and baileyworks...im sure there are others here with opinions on those and others.

Crumpler has a stabilizer strap, I've found the Seedy Three to be a very comfortable bag.

Timbuk2 bags have the cross-strap, too.

Second that on the Seedy Three by Crumpler. Love mine, and the strap works as it should, and it's a pretty tough bag.

My last bag did not have the stabilizer strap, so I tore some straps off a backpack and made my own, and it worked fine.

proper mess bags are waterproof, have something to prevent the slip you're getting (sway or waist strap) and angled (at the point where the bag meets the strap) main straps so the bag remains vertical while worn even though the strap is at an angle due to the fact its wrapped around your chest. here's a list for you, these are smooth and street proven designs.

These vary in too many way to list but the makers listed above still make the bags themselves and will make you a bag just for you for only a few bucks more than the large name brands. I know all but bagaboo are ex or still messing, and the only reason I couldn't say about Bagaboo is cause I haven't had a chance to meet them or their friends yet, but maybe in NYC they'll show up, have a few drinks.

I have a Chrome bag that I love. Good size, comfortable. In addition the regular shoulder strap, it has a strap the runs under your armpit to keep the bag from sliding off. Curb hopping has yet to knock it loose. Plus, the clasp on the main strap looks like a seat belt from a 70's era Amercian car. Neat!

I just received my REload bag last week and it is pretty awesome.
Straps are nice and havent really had the bag slip on me when
I was pedaling hard. There is a cross strap which I have used once
when I was bringing my lcd home, pretty sturdy when it is buckled in.

speaking of bags i just got my reload hip pouch. The thing is great. There are alot of times that i go out and the only thing in my bag are a few tools, a spare tube, u lock, mp3 player, wallet,and phone. I bought a seat bag for the tools and tube and everything else fits in the pouch. the u-lock holster works great-super easy to get to. And it was cheap and you can get them in diff colors. So you want to to be able to cruise without a bag or pockets full of crap, its the best way to go.

I've got a chrome bag. I like it. It's William proof. This includes a few sliders on the pavement AS WELL AS a few fun experiences in South America. Waterproof, bombproof and simple.

Alright, now it's offical: I will never decide on a bag. It was hard enough knowing about ONE place that will make me any bag I want and do it right here in town. Now I know about two?!?!

I'll probably get shuned for it, but my Dakine has a cross strap. It's fairly new to me and I haven't had it on the bike yet. seems like a sturdy bag though. Probalby only water resistant. So I guess it's a posenger bag? 18L capacity

I got a medium Timbuk2 for $30 on closeout at an athletic store. good enough for me...

If you drop $150 on a bag, you sure as hell better get your money's worth...
