Gosh, the Pugsly concept is just..well...plain pulchritudinous. Replacing complicated and expensive suspension with seriously fat tires...who would have thought!

This is why every mtb film is almost all dh/freeride/all mountain. Watching a video that only consists of xc can put a person to sleep. That's 2:54 of my life I will never get back.

The cost of the frame and fork for the Pugsley is not that much different from Surly's other offerings... the cost of the wheels and tyres is what will set you back more than other bikes as they come at a premium and they are typically built with a pretty decent parts spec.

Have wanted a Pugsley since I first laid eyes on one and then thought I would build my own frame and fork to fit the big rubber but am torn as I can buy the frame set at cost (and there is nothing wrong with Surly frames) although those vertical dropouts would have to go to allow a tensioner - less set up for a FG or IGH application.

Or a fuel bottle. Best kept outside of bags full of provisions/gear.

Do you mean on the Pugsley? It has track ends with a derailleur hanger.

More of a general comment on Surly's with vertical dropouts... I have little use for them as they aren't versatile enough.

The track end with hangar is a brilliant idea.

No idea.

I got it from "batch #66" (there's a 2nd [better] pic of that bike, as well, I believe) of Graucho's "Others bikes throughout the world" thread, which can be seen here...

https://motoredbikes.com/showthread.php?t=32541

The dude has thousands and thousands of AMAZING pics. I've only gone thru 2 or 3 batches, myself.

I've wanted one of these for a few years now. Not only for snow, but just mountain biking in general. I put a fat front tire on one of my 29ers and I was sold. It was so plush.

Also, I don't get how some of you're saying $1,500 is a lot of cash, when some of you are riding frames that cost that much. I've even seen some of your designer skinny jeans that cost more.

If you live in the city you might as well buy a motorcycle with a dead motor! If you're near a place that has seasons and elevation it's the perfect thing to spend money on.

It's fun to ride and surprisingly easy to pedal on city streets but I can't see any use for it outside of a wooded rough terrain, much like I can't see the use of a true track bike on the road so I'm not being snobby just sensible.

Just put a down payment on a Necromancer Pugsley. It has wider tires then the regular Pug, but smaller than the Moonlander. It is rediculous fun and I cant wait till I get it.
