Fake Leader 735TR or No?
 

I found some guy on Craigslist who said he could get me a Leader 735TR for pretty cheap.

Does it look legit? I'm bad at judging frames but it seems like the real thing. Any thoughts?

Also, why can't I find any Leader 735tr's for sale online?

And do you think the 735TR is better than the regular 735?

Its not the 2011. The seat tube welds are sloppy. Check it out in person with someone who knows about bikes.

Is it a different year model then?

Not a visp, the seat cluster is different.

735's don't have cable guides and thats a different frame than the one in the first picture

The first ones did because they were originally designed as TT frames.

he sent you two pictures of different frames. tell him unless he can take a picture of the actual frame he's selling you you're not interested.

and honestly my time and money is not worth dealing with people that will give a runaround like that. i'd suggest you tell him he should have more respect if he wants to make money.

he's likely going to give you a visp when you show up anyway.

if Leader was selling them for time trials, why do they have track ends?

The dropouts are removable.

also TT frames do have horizontal dropouts too.

Seems pretty legit except it looks like a stock picture.

it is a stock picture and i would tell him to buy a camera if he wants to sell **** online.

and it's not a 735.

seriously, i wouldn't trust him.

The way I deal with people like this is to have them text or email me a picture of the object with a piece of paper with my name on it. Then you know you're looking at the object he has in his possession. If they can't/won't do this simple request, move on.

Ya, but just judging from the picture do you think it's a real 735?
I've already asked him for spoon pics but he's online sporadically so I'll probably get them tomorrow.

Authentic or no?

not authentic leaders. probably authentic leader designs from the same factory through alibaba or some supplier, but they never painted leaders like that and those are production paintjobs.


when did the 735 come with seat tube bottle bosses? never.

seems like the frames are legit track frames just not leaders. i'd pay a hundred for a frame.

Hm, he just admitted that they aren't actual retail Leaders so I guess you're right.
I might buy it for $140, is that fair? I just like the aesthetics of it.

I'm probably going to buy it anyways, it's a Leader look like with uglier welds.

True, he said a fork will be $15 more but I already have one so I don't really need one.
But to be very truthful, I mostly want the 735 for looks and because it's light.

"Hey guys, what should I do? Oh, you say I shouldn't bother spending my money on one of those ugly counterfeit frames - especially considering the seller lied to me about it being authentic? Well I'm going to do it anyway because I think it's super cool."

Tell him you'll pay his price but only if he admits they aren't real.

Then move on and buy the real thing.

I know but there couldn't be that much difference, right?
And the welds are just welds, my frame right now has welds like that and I personally never really notice them, only when I deliberately look at them.

btw, I'm 5'8". Will 55cm fit me? I have pretty long legs
