That's a little bit like saying that the playboy chick hasn't finished putting her clothes on. The point of porn is to let you see things and having the bars bare lets you see them better. It isn't a practical consideration so much as what looks good in a picture.

It's nothing like saying anything about a Playboy chick.
If they want to show off bars, why are we seeing drive-sides of complete builds? I kind of think that the excitement of being done enough to take a nice, porny shot sometimes comes before tape/grips.

did you see anybody in the olympic track events with fully wrapped bars? i didnt.
when your hands are only in one spot theres really no reason to wrap anything else unless you like how it looks
that being said, "bike porn" is entirely subjective. beauty is in the eye of the beholder

I actually suspect that a good chunk of these never get tape put on them at all. They end up being infrequently ridden wall decorations, something like the sports car in the windowed garage, more to look at than to ride. Two thirds of the time someone posts their own bike on the pictures thread or pedalroom with no tape, the response is that the owners "like it that way and don't need any tape." In other words, aesthetics before practicallity. I personally like the untaped look in pictures. And if you are going for an authentic track kind of look, Mumonkan is right that those bikes only have tape or grip on the drops, although they all have something, which is more than these nudes have.

Yeah, I agree. Of course the whole bar doesn't need tape on the track, but nothing at all says "wall art." To me an amazing bike with evidence of being ridden is way more porny than a pristine garage queen, but that's just opinion. The correct opinion, but still...

I love the Masi. It used to belong to the guy who runs Ride The Black line, but it was seperating. The bike includes some really amazing internal lugs, that were only used by the builder. He built for the US Track team too. There is a racer here in St. Louis has a bike re-branded Murray that I lust over all the time.

I think that's closer to fact than opinion, but that's just my opinion. Bikes were made to be ridden, not looked at. When I look at nice bikes, I think to myself "How fun would it be to ride that baby?"

Stem too. I've got the close ups saved at work. Think classic scrimshaw work on firearms. Stay tuned... Love me some Tommasini
