Got some new parts last night to upgrade/convert the Langster RIO from track mode to more of a street mode. This was the 2nd ride on this bike, first with this parts so was good shake down on the fit, feel of the bike. Pretty flat route in the winds, 17ave

Zipp service al bars 44cm wide for extra leverage on the climbs
Sram S500 brake levers
Shimano DA teflon cables and housing
Shimano DA silver brakes
Thomson Seatpost 0 setback
White Industries ENO 18t freewheel
Fizik bar tape

Photo is a bit funky at the rear wheel there, but what a nice ride! And great to average 17mph on a fixie? I don't seem to be able to get over 14 with mine (46/17) Maybe my 61yo legs just don't spin as fast or freely as they used to! Haha

it was a vertical pano cuz the statue is huge at the memorial, iphone failed to stitch it well and I didn't notice til afterward either

Singlespeed mode today, but almost the same thing. Except for I can coast down the hill at 36mph. Climbing that hill back was interesting not too terrible either. The WI eno FW has nice enough engagement points to stay on the gear really well.

Sorry I didn't get more photo's, especially of the inside as they were restoring it. This is a long way from home and I'm typically doing 60+ mile rides when I pass. Lingering for photos isn't a priority but I'll try to get some next time.

Greenwell Avenue, in Montecito, CA.

AMGEN’s ToC Stage Two. This is a Category Three climb. The last climb on stage two, before hitting the HC climb at the top of Gibraltar Road.

There is still mud on both sides of the road, from the January 2018 mudlides.

Mission bell on the campus of Cal State University Channel Islands. This is the former site of the Camarillo State Mental Hospital and reputedly the inspiration for some of the lyrics of The Eagles Hotel California.

@jsigone nice ride. Is that the HWY 56 bike path? Just noticed your location. I'm headed out now for a little work on Mt. Soledad and then Fiesta Island before work.

Also @eja_ bottecchia loving the Santa Barbara County pics. I lived in Goleta for 10 weeks in the summer of 2009 while interning at the materials research lab of UCSB. I rode all over between Ventura and Solvang - love it out there!

Yah the 56 trail head off Saber Springs. I rode to the start of the SD metric century at the Mira Costa college off Manchester n 5 from RB, did their Metric loop plus the extra 38miles. The hills going back home was taxing at the 97-99 where I did the 3 witches on San Dieguito Rd if you know the area. The short 7% grades were a quad burner at that point. Overall good times, good challenge with the new bike. Fit of the bike seems fine overall, stock langster saddle was fine, and the wider 44cm bars helped for extra leverage on the climbs. Its the first century I've done on a Alum frame and 23c tires in a long while so was bit more stiffer then I'm used to but not horribly stiff. I think some Velocity A23s or H+son Archtypes will help give a bit more comfort over the stock rims and straight gauge spokes.

What would have been different had you left it as fixed gear?

@eric044 It was a charity ride so lots of riders of all speed ranges. nothing would have changed climbing wise or crusing speed wise, but the downhills I got to 42mph just coasting with slower packs riders on there brakes and cars doing 45-60mph few inches to the left of me. I was often in the cars lane to pass riders that were taking up the bike lane. The FW was my extra layer of insurance for stupid **** not to happen. The 18t fixed is on the other side of the hub

It is really a great place to ride. I never get tired of it. The recent mudslides in Montecito have closed parts of 192 between Montecito and Santa Barbara (prompting a re-routing of parts of Stage Two of the ToC). But the rest of the ride routes are fully open.

This picture is at the bottom of the Bates Rd. climb, on the way to Highways 150 and 192.
