Interesting. I don't know that much about Lance Armstrong. I'm not into being a "cyclist" and "cycling", or sports in general. I like bikes. So, honestly, when his whole drama started, to me it was just another sports doosh, doing sports doosh stuff. Interesting article though. I always laugh when, here in the midwest, I see a big fat person, with a "Livestrong" bracelet, embedded in their wrist... |

but no aparently it was Willowbrook State School, which my father also worked at. which was basically a dumping ground for children with mental conditions that noone knew what to do with, and treated them like human garbage. Geraldo did an exposé on it in '72 and according to my dad what they say is true, some real american horror story type ****. Kennedy called it a "snake-pit". today i work at the community college which sits on top of the (rumored) mass graves now, buildings and grounds guys tell of a network of tunnels underneath all the buildings still, some closed off. a mile away is (was) the old Seaview Hospital where they housed thousands of Tuberculosis patients and pioneered cures for eradicating TB, which was also a nightmare. http://forgotten-ny.com/wp-content/u...adchildren.jpg man, this place sucks. lol. |

Yeah I saw that Cropsey movie, and it's definitely creeepy. That guy made Ottis Toole and Henry Lee Lucas look somewhat less creepy. Plus the mass graves of orphans is really disturbing. I remember a couple years ago they uncovered a mass grave at an old orphanage down in Florida somewhere. Apparently it had been running for almost a decade, and only a couple years after it opened, had already had numerous inquiries regarding the treatment of the kids there...

I hate to get away from this "creepy" thing, but Manny, did I have an eye opening ride this morning.
On my normal loop, cars hauling bikes passd me on the road leading to the local Metropark. Dropping by to see what was happening, noticed there are several Surleys, a Riv or two, a couple of those low slung trikes, and one of those CF recumbents that look like a spaceship!....this in a neighborhood that if you see kid on a box store bike, you've seen 40% of the cycling population! Turned out they're all old folk, like me, and invited me to tag along! Sweet! Staying in the ride pic mode here's mine from this morning. Don't think I've posted it when it was dressed for distance. Never thought to break out the camera while meeting the group....too busy ogling and drooling. Who knew there were those types of bikes here!?! http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=445049 |

Ha! I am a former fat dude. I was pushing 235lbs at 5'9", about to turn 40 and I knew I had to make some changes. Started riding more, which led to eating better and quitting smoking. Over the proverbial hill now and I'm sitting really happily at 169lbs. In the best shape of my life. Still the same height, though..... |
