They are moronic decorations that cover scars from a tumble. I keep telling myself I'll remove them, perhaps now I finally will.

Yes, it's twine wound with that clever 'invisible' knot. They've been on there a while and have soaked up a lot of mud and rain and have acquired a patina of sorts. I thought it would be an interesting way to deal with the 'issue' at the time ;)
