Why fixed gear?

The best answers won't be "Super Bike/Techie" because it's the pleasure, the fun of it that'll keep you riding fixed once you're hooked. I got my track bike two years ago. I rode my road bike three times in the following 6 months. Each time I found myself bored and wishing I was on my pista. Finally sold the road bike.
You know how your thighs burn if you stand for too long on a road bike? Won't happen on a fixie. Your legs will become stronger and you'll find yourself climbing faster than you did with gears—up to a certain grade.
