Carbon is an element. You cannot say life that is based on chemical bonds with this element is made of this element. This is not how chemistry (specifically organic chemistry) works.
Wood has something like a 50% carbon content. So wood is half carbon.
God, I hate ochem.

I don't see it. Convince me that something that is made up carbon bonding with other elements means it is made of carbon.

The main point of my argument is that just because something contains carbon (one or more of its elements is carbon), it doesn't mean that it is carbon.

yes, but containing carbon, and being carbon based, are two completely different things..... i definitely did not say that wood contains a carbon molecule so it is carbon. I simplified something that is carbon based, meaning its a string of carbons with other compounds branching off of it, and more than 50% carbon at that, can be identified as carbon in simple conversation. Sorry, should have said it was a compound of Cellulose, Hemicellulose, Glucomannan, Glucuronoxylan, several polysaccharides, and Lignin (all carbon based compounds btw).... because that is MUCH more appropriate for this here bicycle forum......

Back on topic real quick. Can you have a tire and not need a wheelset ever? Can the tire just have spokes on it?
