Bar Tape Advise
I am lookin for bar tape for some drop bars i have. I currently have no tape on my drop bars. I have a grip at the very tips. This doesnt help since half the time i have my hands in the middle or top of the bars. So im thinking if i have tape my hands wont hurt as badly? What are some good brands/kinds of bar tape to get?

If your hands are hurting from the grips, it might be a good idea to start a bit thicker and softer and go from there.
Cinelli cork is a very good soft and thick tape.
If you find you like the tape a little thinner, Fizik is good. Lizard skins tape is very good, medium as far as thickness goes (though it comes in a thicker variety), but a bit more expensive. Most guys here say it's worth it. I live by the Fizik stuff.

right now I'm just bare metal. and its the gummy grip on the tips. I was looking for leather tape (brooks probably) but idk how that is. if its comfortable etc

Had some on an old Paramount of mine.... Only thing I don't like about leather tape is that you have to start at the base of the bar, because you cant tuck the edges under the endplug cause its too damn thick. Great tape though. If you are not pro at wrapping, pay your LBS $10 to do it, so your $80 bar tape doesn't look like sh*t...

Whatever cork bar tape your LBS has. You're not gonna tell the difference between any of it at this point. Try stuff 'til you figure out what you like.
