wow! pushing a pretty stiff gear, too. pretty damn clever:)

townandcountry 12-16-04 10:12 AM

That seat post clamp looks dicey.

Cynikal 12-16-04 10:20 AM

Looks like some one just couldn't give up his BMX from childhood.

turd 12-16-04 10:30 AM

has anyone seen this in fixedgeargallery ever?

WithNail 12-16-04 10:33 AM

You know those frames a 100lb weight limits on them. That thing is going to crack in half. . . I know when I rode an Auburn which was almost the same frame I weighed like 90lbs and I went through about 5 frames a year.

Rex 12-16-04 10:46 AM

Holy Crap! Is that a Selle San Marco saddle on there? Looks like it might be a Concor saddle. And those pedals! They're toe clips! Who is this guy?

H23 12-16-04 10:47 AM

People find bliss in strange ways.

drulu 12-16-04 11:03 AM

i remember seeing the dude who rides this around a while back. hmmm....interesting. but not as interesting as a pixies show! how was it?

robertsdvd 12-16-04 11:08 AM

I would not ride with that seatpost hack in NYC traffic... EVER.

But with 20" wheels, you could ride 52x16 and still be riding 66 gear inches.
That would be equivalent of 40x16 with 700 wheels.

nasty 12-16-04 12:54 PM

i think that might be ghandi's iron. he's one of those messenger chaps. if it is his, i saw him in action on it in copenhagen during the cmwc02. scary fast...

When I lived in NYC I used to always see him riding ill bikes, and riding barefoot, and generally being a wildman. That BMX rig looks like his style.

right, but it's bigger than a 52 up front, and looks to be somewhere in the low teens in back.

rykoala 12-16-04 02:24 PM

With the exception of the hillbilly seatpost, I think that thing is SWEET. Bet its a ton'o'fun to ride!

luckycat 12-16-04 05:24 PM

Yup, that's Jason Ghandi's(sp?) bike. He's an ex messenger, possibly still the world skid champion. And yeah, the seatpost setup is mad sketchy, but he's a pretty skinny/light guy. Also, the frame is a gt mini, smaller than the average bmx.

WithNail 12-16-04 07:54 PM

Oh I know what kind of frame that is alright, my brother and I collectively broke probably 20 of those frames while racing for the factory teams. Those frames are LIGHT as all hell. they probably weighed like 13-16lbs as completes when I rode them. . . if that. oooh man I sooo finished finals today so please pay no mind to any posts I make as I have had waaay tooo much to drink and just got the worst pedal bite of my life!!! F-ing spun me in a 180!! oh man my hip feels funny.

SamHouston 12-16-04 08:29 PM

Here's a pic of him on it at a trackstand comp, monster track. Yah gandy has got it going on for skids and such, though I think that record has been beaten.

myxbyx 12-16-04 08:56 PM

OK, not sure about the seat post, but there is a GT Vertigo in the shed that no-one rides anymore (replaced by a HARO 8.1 and a Mongoose, strange children), and I think I have a BB adaptor for 3 pc crank,........hmmm.

Theres also a Gary Fisher BMX.....

neuron 12-16-04 09:01 PM

someone who loves the pixies... broken faced, of course.

manboy 12-16-04 10:45 PM

I could see using a bigger BMX frame, a 24" especially, but that just gives me the jibblies.

dig that sissy bar...

OneTinSloth 12-16-04 11:54 PM

i friggen LOVE minis. and jrs. christ, if i was little enough to ride one, i'd be all over it. most badass tiny bikes EVER!

except for the tiny 22" wheeled (!) pionyr road bike at my shop. single ring up front, with a single downtube shifter, shifting like, a 3 speed derailleur setup in the rear. when i first noticed the freewheel on that thing i was blown away...had never seen an outboard 3 spd like that before...and probably won't again.

hmm...i think i'll try my hand at restoring it for the shop next week.

SD Fixed 12-17-04 02:15 AM

That's pretty cool.
