Was at a lbs getting some work done on my commuter and overheard a fellow customer talking w/one of the sales staff about fg/track bikes. Made a mental note and did a I.S. when arriving home. Was interested and ended up building my own ss. Then after about a year I bought cheap fg wheelset and have been riding fixed ever since.
Have a 2 bike commuter rig. Multi-geared pannier set for hauling a week's food/clothes and a fg w/a seatpost rack/trunkbag set up. Works well. Riding fg changed the way I ride a geared bike as I pedal down hills I used to freewheel.

Many years ago, my teenage son was interested in bike racing. I typed in "bike racing Colorado" into Google and one of the results was the Velodrome in Colorado Springs. They were having a open beginners clinic in a couple of days. We drove up and he was hooked. We had a great time going to watch him race and my wife really liked to watch the adult racers. She liked the "scenery". I rode a fixed gear bike around the infield during one of his practices and liked it. I recently converted a old Schwinn World Sport into a fixed gear to ride to work. I love it too.
